With just a few hours left to bring players in (a bit long to ship a few out) this is how I see the trimmed First team squad looking:
(in 4-2-3-1 formation)
1st choice:
Muric
Jenkinson Dawson Figureido Robinson
Watson Semedo
Adomah Carvalho Lolley
Grabban
2nd Choice:
Samba
Richardson Worrall Milosevic Ribeiro
Yates Sow
Cash Silva Ameobi
Mir
Add to that 22 Smith, and Darikwa, We are still very light in the striker department so hopefully that will be remedied this afternoon which will make 25.

His other striking options would now only be academy players such as Johnson and the lad who was on loan at County last season. 🤔

I guess before the window people would have said we
Needed to keep grabban lolley and carvalho
Needed a better keeper than pants or Steele
Needed a RB
Needed a colback/replacement
Needed more fight in midfield
Needed cover for carvalhlo
Needed more than Cash on RW.
Needed a striker to work in and around grabban
Which is essentially what we’ve got. They’ve done it on a budget and only time will tell if it’s be shrewd to mostly avoid the English market.
all the players on the way out other than maybe yacob were only ever going abroad or down a league so I’m happy to wait till September or whenever the other windows close to judge our outgoings. The regime do seem to have a track record of getting good fees from our deadwood and I can see any brought in this window that will need moving on being sold for a profit

Gomis couldn't even hold down a place in a team which went out the league!
It will be difficult moving players who are on good Championship wages i.e at least £15K to a league 1 club who will only want to pay half that or less.
Given that and our failure to sign a striker, I can see Murphy being back in the squad before long.
Then again as long as they don't get injured I think Lolley and Grabban could get thirty goals between them

Gomis has gone to Macclesfield on loan. Early days for him yet and I wouldn’t judge him on a stint at County who were in an absolute mess.

Simply cannot believe just how many players Forest have signed this past 2 seasons. There must be a serious threat of blowing the finances. Your wage bill must be shockingly high now? Leeds have gone through these same scattergun transfer approaches twice in recent seasons and we are paying for it now by having to sell £30m worth of players to balance things off.

I wouldn’t say so. The cost of the majority, if not all of the signings made, has been offset by the sale of Osborn to the Blunts. I don’t think Forest are the basket case financially that they were under the Kuwaitis.

Yes this close season you have sold Osborn to balance 19/20 transfers but the 18/19 season shows an outlay of £25m.
Prior to that you have 3 seasons of transfer profit (Antonio/Burke/Assambalonga) so maybe you had money in the bank?
Its not just the transfers that hurt a club.
You guys have a MASSIVE squad. Largest i have seen at this level. Must be losing a shed load each month with nearly 40 players. Its unsustainable

I think the outgoings over the last few seasons have more than covered what has been spent. Think the concern is more that the squad numbers will include a good proportion who won’t get anywhere near the match day 18 so they’ll likely be sat creating issues for the management. It’s the biggest headache for every manager in the league and often the cause of boards losing faith in them when the bad apples spoil the barrel and the bad mouthing creates uncertainty.

I think the club are now relying on a few players being snapped up by league one and two clubs as well as overseas as their windows are all still open. I suppose that is the hope. Guedioura is almost certain to be off to the Middle East, for example.

Also got £7m off Blackburn for Brereton last Jan so there have been some good fees received. Can’t rely on that entirely, though.
