Summer Transfer Rating

Overall Score: 7/10

When the window opened we needed the following signings:

RB - Starting XI
CM - Starting XI
ST - Squad Player or FW - Either Squad or Starting

With the window now closing we've sold/released:

ST - Janssen - "Squad Player"
ST - Llorente - Squad Player
RB - Trippier - Starting XI

And bought into the team:

CM - Ndombele - Starting XI
CM - Lo Celso - Starting XI
LB - Sessegnon - Squad Player

That's a massive improvement on our attacking options but our weakest area was not kept the same let alone improved. We've regressed at RB and it is a huge concern going into the season. Sessegnon of course can play further up the pitch and might even get game time in front of Rose or Davies.

Saying that, the above rating is on the squad as of today. Eriksen, Toby and Rose are still concerns for departures. Eriksen the most and Toby least likely. The 7/10 rating is extremely sensitive to what happens with those three.

Considering we haven't addressed the RB problem or added a back up striker/ forward into the team you could have a case for dropping it. For me though, it merits a 7/10 due to the quality of players we have managed to bring in.

Losing Eriksen by the end of the international windows would drop the rating to a 5/10. Not only would we have got worse at RB but Lo Celso would be a straight replacement rather than addition. An addition which could free up Lucas/ Son as Kane cover.

Lamela is key to the season as well. I think he's a brilliant player and have stuck by him but if he gets injured for a prolonged period again then i'm done with him.

If we have to rely on Lamela we are in trouble

Lamela has looked good in pre season, I also like his work rate and he sets the tone for our pressing

7/10 right now but 6/10 when we sell Eriksen and Aurier.

Can’t expect to get the squad all sorted in one window ( which makes not signing anyone last summer worse ) but we have a good base and also a younger age group to move us forward

Exactly this. Gutted to not get Dybala having been so close. You know he'll go to Man U or someone in Jan.

If you offered me this position at the start of the window I 100% would’ve taken it.

I’d say a 6/10 as RB has been our weakest position since Kyle Walker departed, and we’ve now let his replacement (Trippier) depart without any replacement for him. Poor planning and puts us in a much ch weaker defensive position. Teams will have a field day going forward on their left against our right side....
Having said that, very happy to have a replacement/potential improvement on Dembele who was injury prone but fantastic keeper of the ball, and Lo Celso is a great attacking midfielder with a good eye for goal. If we hold onto Eriksen, Toby and Rose this will have been a 8/10 for me, just missing RB strength. Lose two more of our defenders and/or Eriksen over the next month, it will have been a regression rather than a stand still or progression. Less than 5/10 in those circumstances

Seems fairly likely Eriksen and Rose will go in the next few weeks.

I’m gonna hold off rating until I see what the actual ffff Poch is doing.

They are his signings, he had been backed, it’s his choice to not replace trippier. So let’s see what he can do with what he has.
