On ths day - 10th August 2016

Three years since we played on 10th August. It was a warm summer's evening at the start of the first Championship season but it was the first round of the League Cup and a run out for a lot of the lads that had won promotion.

Callum Reilly scored his only Brewers goal to get us up and running but the visitors levelled just after half time. These days it would be straight to penalties but it was still extra time in 2016 and a strike from Stuart Beavon that put us back in front. Calum Butcher then made the game safe before a second Bury goal in the last minute.

Former Brewers loanee Zeli Ismail was in the away team.

Phil Edwards was at right back for us - seems longer than three years since he left doesn't it? And Damen McCrory on the other side of course. I notice that he has signed for Notts County as they start their National League campaign. He will be sitting it out this week though as he was red carded in the last minute.
