So the real curtain raiser to the season in the form of the League Cup. I know nothing about Scunthorpe apart from travelling there for a dismal 0-0 or 1-1 a few years ago to watch the Rams.
Showing how expectations have raised, there was a tinge of disappointment after the 0-0 against the Jacks on Saturday. A comfortable win will be the minmum on Tuesday night.
A chance to experiment and bring in some old friends - Chris Martin anyone?
Big shout out to those making the trip up there - I understand that it is sold out for Derby fans.
Not sure what the comment count will be leadingbup tomthe game but as always, any titbits of information would be gratefully received as I am in a somewhat compromising position.

Who upped their chances? The big pole looks a decent central defender but would you change Clarke and Keogh? Not yet. I was impressed with Jason Knight, Dowell's place possibly under threat. Max Lowe played OK and the young lad Buchanan took his goal well. Paterson seems off the pace. Marriott improved towards the end of the game.

Bielik for Huddlestone or Evans seems most likely to me

We improved in the second half when Evans came on for Bird. Hudz still has that touch of class, difficult one for Cocu.

One thing is for certain, Shinnie is everything my mate said he is so far, not bad, not spectacular and will give away a lot of silly fouls, kind of summed him up last night.

I still find this to be the most bizarre of the transfers. At 28 he's hardly the youngest but instead one of our youngsters, Lowe, was by a wide margin the best player in the team he played for last year even if said player was only on the fringes of our team.
Defensive players giving away silly fouls is the kind of thing that means you're not going to finish in the top 2 as good teams will punish you and it gives lesser fancied teams the opportunity to nick something so that's not the most positive trait.
I'm sure he's a nice chap, but as a signing I'm not seeing the logic behind it, unless it was done for personal reasons and the club thinks he'll help Lowe develop?
Would love him to prove me wrong but I'm not sure what qualities we signed him for.

I’m sure once he gets a run in the side we will see what he has to offer, i’d like to see him and Dowell in front of Belik, much more mobile midfield.
