Harry Brockbank.

It's quite some time since I wrote an article but today I thought that the timing is right. So forgive me for breaking the new tradition of carrying on the match thread.

With all the upheaval going on surrounding the club and our future not yet secure, I have a feeling which has been missing for several years. It is a pride in our club, Bolton Wanderers Football Club. It's a feeling that I used to have frequently. I have been a fan since I was a little boy. I remember going to games when Burnden Park was stuffed to capacity. It was before all this 100% seating malarky. I was so small that my father who usually stood on the embankment end had to hoist me onto his shoulders so that I could see the game. I remember walking down the Manny road to queue for tickets for cup games against teams like Preston North End. All exciting stuff when you are a small boy. I remember when we won the FA cup, that would have given me some bragging rights at school except all my mates were Bolton fans. There were other periods like when Bruce Rioch really got us motoring again and took us to Wembly only to be beaten by Liverpool. When we got promoted to the Premier League and when we played in Europe. Sadly, since those days, there hasn't been a lot to shout about.

Last Saturday we had a young lad called Harry Brock bank, a Bolton boy who captained our team at the age of just 20 years. He has said that the only team he ever wanted to play is Bolton Wanderers. In my eyes, he's a hero. Of course, he isn't the only one, we had a team whose average age was under 19. Every one of those young players deserves to go into the hall of fame for their efforts. They are the ones that stood up to be counted, not the older professionals. Everyone, should by now know my stance on those players, so I won't revisit my feelings for them.

I just hope that whatever happens, Harry Brockbank and his young teammates all eventually. become fixtures at BWFC and rise to great heights to get the club back where we want to belong.

They have given me that old feeling which is a great feeling, a sense of pride in my team. Let's hope it is the beginning of a new era for Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

Couldn't agree more. If the game as a whole had more players of Brockbank's ilk it would be a better place. A young man who stood by the club that has stood by him since the age of 8, training unpaid and turning down interest from elsewhere out of love and loyalty to his club.
