Battered them for long periods but lost.....will be a long season but enough there to give hope.

Cant get away with mistakes we make unlike last year.

DS must be seething - I know I am!!! Two terrible mistakes in the first 10 minutes. Otherwise we played pretty well. But it's not good enough and we have 0 points to prove it.

The frustrating thing about yesterday is we gifted Bournemouth a 2-goal lead inside 12 minutes. Heaton didn't need to take Wilson out as he was going nowhere and even if he'd kept it in we had enough cover to avoid a goal. Luiz makes a howler for the second and instead of dummying it should have passed to Grealish who was free, even so Wilson's shot is hugely fortunate for them as it takes a large deflection and goes in off the post.

Thought we were the better side overall and created a lot more than them, but they were much more savvy than us and knew how to hurt us in moments and take advantage of sloppiness at the back. Could be a long, hard season now.

Everton at home on Friday doesn't get any easier, before an away visit to Palace before the international break. If we could take 4 points fro the next 2 games that would give me some confidence, but this is Villa so I'm not holding my breath.

Reckon we have the quality. It's now a question of getting a properly functioning team. It's all small margins; cut out the mistakes and we're a decent mid PL team.
