Derby County v Bristol City
Pride Park, Derby
20 Aug 2019
1945
After Florest wrapped up the league with an impressive performance against a toothless Birmingham team, we now turn our attention to continuing our unbeaten run and looking forward to predicting our scores on the Silky Prediction League.
Once again we seem unsure of what our best team is and need to put our faith in Phil to know his stuff. He currently appears to be trying out, checking, assessing, rationalising and picking Tom Lawrence - just to annoy VC.
Will be interesting to see what formation we play - 3 at the back anyone? We cannot play Jamie Paterson who cannot play against his parent club. Duane Holmes is out as is Sninnie.
Team news from Ang if he gets his 5hit and Internet together.

View, TalkSport said Roos and Keogh were at fault for their first, (comedy double-act)?

In fairness, I was at the other end and it all looked very confusing Scouse, I'll reserve judgement 'til I see it again.

Highlights, (you may want to sit-down for the first few seconds):

I can't tell who was at fault to be fair View, but Malone should not sleep tonight after their second?

Just back home...Keogh played well, as for the rest...
Cocu needs to wake up and play the best team, typical he replaced Bennett when other players were worse than him. I'm disappointed and fed up with the traffic situation round PP. They even shut the car park so everyone were squashed together.

............... Jacko's goal was a thing of beauty. If Rooney had done that it would be all over the back pages tomorrow.

Just got back, too. I didn't think we were that terrible - Brizzle just had a bit more luck in front of goal than us. We lack a killer instinct unless Marriot is on the pitch. I thought Keogh had a great game - there were times in the 2nd half where he seemed to be doing a better job on the right wing than Zoon. Bielik seemed to get some good tackles in during the 2nd. I was too far away from in the 1st half to judge. Clarke seems OK as a defender, but clueless when he's up the pitch with the ball. Sadly I thought Huddz was equally as bad tonight. We just seem to be passing for the sake of passing in the final third, nobody has the nerve to shoot or take on a man very often. That said, Dowell had a few shots, but needn't have bothered - Row Z stuff. Couldn't fault Bennett for his work rate, but he needs to score to justify his place. Thought Max Lowe made a lot of mistakes but I still like him. He neds to run at defenders a bit more. It seems to work when he does it, but if he needs to use his head & look for the right pass with lots of bodies around him he doesn't seem to know what to do.
Ho hum. Let's hope Cocu can sort them out - they're not a million miles away from being a decent team.

Too many individuals were a distance of their best tonight: Waghorn, Bennett, Lawrence all below par and Malone was very poor but the main problem was in midfield where Huddz and Dowelll made far too many individual errors. They are both quality players but they didn’t look it tonight. I thought before the match that Cocu might rest one or both if them. Had we taken the lead then maybe they would have found it easier to control the game but if players are a bit fatigued then when they have to force the game they often make mistakes. Also Lowe did alright but we are very lopsided without Bogle. On the plus side Josefzoon was not below his best when he came on, he was just as crap as ever. Positives were Keogh, Bielik and Marriott.

I thought it looked very Rooneyesque

Just some observations:
First half we were trying to walk it in, Brizzle saw that and just closed ranks at the back.
Lawrence was anonymous again.
Bielik looks to drive forwards with the ball, Huddlestone won’t step out of his comfort zone of the five yard pass backwards and sideways with the occasional 40 yarder.
Waghorn will struggle in this formation if he isn’t going to get the service.
We don’t press teams enough when we lose possession.
Why didn’t Kasey Palmer play like that for us?

Oh and why, why, why just because the new rule says you don’t have to wait until the ball leaves the area from a goal kick to touch it, do we feel the need to put ourselves under immediate pressure by playing a short goal kick? Also why has Roos got away with the hospital pass to Malone in the first place that led to the second goal? As much to blame as Malone is for losing it.
It’s Hamer time!

Roos does give me the jitters when he's playing the ball with his feet at the edge of his area.
He got away with it at Udders - just!
