Lessons to be learned!!!!

How many times over the years have we seen the importance of defending the line only to see the opposition score a try in the last minute in a big game...Old Trafford 1990 springs to mind.... its still been a good test for the England boys but will one test be enough, when we face the Aussies and New Zealand? make it a 3 test series let the boys gel its the only way forward.

England/GB have for many years have had this habit off swiching off just before half time, and just before the end of the game

To be fair, England had a few players missing. (I generally don't buy injury as an excuse. If a country/team only has one quality player in each position then that's just bad management and poor junior development.) England's best move might be to forge a UK Birth Certificate for Rangi Chase! If you compared the effect of Chase and Tommy L to Myler and Sinfield, something needs to be done there. Widdop? Brough? would either or both of them have made that much difference?

I remember last year when Robinson made the 4N squad as the 4th-choice utility player. Ever since then he's been the most consistent attacking player in the team. And he won't get the 9, because Roby will get it - and deserves it. So what do they do? Put Robbo in 14, Widdop at 6 and Brough at 7?

I'm SL-neutral and I've said on other forums that I think Gaskell has to be fast-tracked - even if he just plays the 4N game against Wales. He's got size, speed and variety in his attacking game.

Also I think the decline of Sinfield over the last 2 seasons is very sad. He used to be able to control a game but now, he never even looks like making a break or setting up an attacking raid.

I agree with everything Farmduck has said, the main difference between the teams was the halfbacks. Chase and Tommy Lu had complete control of the game, wheras Myler and Sinfield offered nothing on the creative front. Myler may be a superb support player but his rugby brain is so lacking he creates nothing at scrum half. Sinfield has been a good player but for me I can only see a place for him at hooker.

When you become tired you start switching off mentally, when England are being outclassed against the likes of Australia, New Zealand and even the Exiles they will become tired faster than usual, so naturally they're more likely to conceded tries just before halftime and just before the end.

Don''t the NRL coaches laugh at the lack of prpfessionalism of SL players.. maybe that is an issue, too much drinking each week.
