I’d have liked Big Virg to have won but I won’t be losing sleep over it.

Messi last season was, well... Messi. But his goal was to win the CL. He made a public pledge to win it. He failed.

He also flopped at the Copa America.

Big Virg turned Liverpool into European Champions and not one single player got around him. Not one. Not Sterling, Aguero, Hazard, Mbappe, Neymar, Lewandowski, Suarez, Messi... none of them.

He truly has been a transformative player - the likes of which we don’t see in football very often.

I think 97 points is a phenomenal feat. Best defence across all major leagues.

I hardly think being pipped to the league by one point is equivalent to being dumped out of the CL and failing again for your country - something that Virgil is excelling in.

Didn’t Holland loose in the Nations league final? Also Messi dragged Barca to another league title. These things happen, I’m sure VVD would’ve won more if he had managed to win the league title.
