With Australia retaining the Ashes and nothing happening in the final test to change my mind in terms of selection for this side, here is the series XI:
Burns - a century in his first ashes test match and a gutsy 81 in the first innings at Old Trafford, the stand out for a very poor series for the opening batsmen on both sides
Leach - impressed with some of his bowling and can block and frustrate at the top of the order. With no opener worthy of the side, Leach slots in.
Labuschagne - very impressive since replacing Smith, deserved an Ashes ton. The 2nd best batsman of the series and frustrated the England bowlers.
Smith - tough choice between him and Roy but in the end i just went for Australian.
Stokes - single-handedly won for England in Leeds, whom without him would be an utterly embarrassing 3-0 down in a home Ashes series against an average Australian side.
Wade - an Ashes century this series and was out unluckily a few times after a few good starts. Better of a bad bunch in the middle order.
Paine (wk/c) - not a great batsman, although England made him look good at times, but has been impressive with the gloves and got the better of his opposite number as captain.
Cummins - best bowler of the series highlighted by taking the most wickets. Showed why he is currently the number one bowler in the world.
Broad - probably the only England player who deserved not to be on the losing side. A great bowler taking plenty of wickets again in an Ashes series, including having Warner on toast, but badly missed his opening partner.
Hazelwood - impressive, consistent series with the ball. Exploited some lazy England batting and gets in ahead of any other English seam bowler.
Lyon - showed why he is Australia's greatest off spinner. Great control, probably deserved more wickets than he actually got.

Let's pick an all time Ashes 11
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going to go for only mid 90s onwards, because they are the players I witnessed.
Hayden
Cook
Ponting
Pietersen
Smith
S Waugh
Gilchrist
Flintoff
Warne
Johnson
McGrath
I put Johnson on because the 2013-14 ashes, might even be a better bowling display than Wayne in 05.

That's pretty much the sort of team I was thinking, but the bowlers I would pick would be Warne, Broad, Anderson and McGrath, means Flintoff would have to make way for one of the batsmen, It would have to be in place of KP, which kills me leaving KP out of this team
