It's went unmentioned on here so far but United have completed a signing over the last few days, with former Oxford centre half Troy Brown signing on for six months. This is primarily due to the injury Connolly has received and Brown provides us with cover. No idea if he's any good but we'll wait and see.

In other news, and no great surprise, both Robbie Neilson and Sir Lawrence Shankland have picked up awards from the SPFL this week for their achievements in August. Well done to both.

Needless to say that the curse of the MOTM award will hover over us as we go to Somerset Park for a top of the table clash with Ayr tomorrow. A big, big game and even at this early stage Ayr will be desperate to take something from us to stop us breaking away from the pack. As ever we'll await team news but I would hope Butcher will be in defence and Harkes in midfield, but we'll see what Robbie goes for.

Elsewhere in the division, Inverness travel to struggling Dunfermline and i'm still surprised every time I look at that table to see Dunfermline in the relegation play-off zone. Surely they can turn it around with a result against third place ICT. Arbroath, flying high in a promotion play-off place at the moment, entertain Partick, and as per Dunfermline it's incredible to see Thistle propping up the table. Can the Lichties win again? I think they might. QOTS could be in big trouble this season and they entertain a Morton team who will be hoping to climb into the play-off places with another win.

There is another game in the division but it's between two bottom half teams so I don't think anyone really cares about that meaningless game.

Another big weekend coming up though in arguably Scotland's most competitive league.
