Team News
Leeds United
Summer signing Helder Costa will make his first league start for Leeds in place of the injured Pablo Hernandez.
Adam Forshaw is back and is likely to challenge Jamie Shackleton for a starting spot, but Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts are unlikely to start.
Charlton
Charlton are without top scorer Lyle Taylor, who has a knee injury.
Beram Kayal has a groin problem and also misses out, while former Leeds man Jason Pearce should be involved despite a groin problem of his own. I'd forgotten about him

Match facts
Charlton's last league meeting with Leeds was in April 2016, winning 2-1 at Elland Road under Jose Riga.
Leeds have won just one of their past 11 league games against Charlton (W1 D5 L5), a 4-2 win at the Valley in November 2013 with Ross McCormack scoring all four.
Charlton have lost their past two league games, last losing three in a row in March 2018 in League One.
Leeds have won all four of their away league games this season. The only time they've won their first five on the road was in the 1973-74 season en-route to the second of their three top-flight titles.
No player has scored more Championship goals this season than Charlton's Lyle Taylor (5). Since he joined AFC Wimbledon in 2015, only seven players have scored more English league goals than Taylor (70).
Leeds are the only team in the top four tiers of English football yet to concede a league goal before half-time this season.
Okay, Prutton predict a frustrating 1-1 for this game not sure about that, while Charlton have pulled off some good results to start off their season I think we'll be looking to put last weeks disappointment behind us and nick a 1-2 win with Costa and Bamford getting the goals

Leeds Utd v Charlton Matchday Thread

We needed Pontus to light the fire today. I think we are going to feel his loss more and more this season.

Played 12 against Charlton, lost 11. That's a shocker but as someone said earlier, we generally seem to get turned over by southern sides. I met a Millwall supporter in the pub a couple of weeks ago and he called Leeds their whipping boys. Embarrassing, but I couldn't dispute it.

But look on the bright side, Norwich and Sheff Utd are probably coming back down...

Stoopo I know.
I get pointing out where we can improve. Because we can. But instead of looking like an idiot. Why not give specifics. Point out why it isn’t as good as it could be.
But just saying everything crap. We can’t do anything tells me you don’t really understand what’s happening on the pitch.

Can’t defend yet we have the best defence in the Championship.
------
No we haven't we've lost 2 league matches, more than 3 other clubs and same as a number of others.

Don’t think you understand the definition of defence

I wouldn't be claiming to have best defence when we're losing more matches than other sides, to the stupidest of defensive mistakes.

Re how good the defence is.
If we concede 1 goal from every 3 shots on target against us is that good?
If it is then Charlton's defence must be even better 0 goals conceded from 4 shots on target (out of 19 BTW)
Anyhow, the more serious problem is at the other end of the pitch, we cannot score so the defence have to keep clean sheets for us to pick up points.

And that's the point ts....we restrict teams to minimal possession and chances and yet they still score enough goals to cause us to lose more matches than others.
But, the problems are up front, the quality of chances we create are really not good enough and tactics at present are not effective.

Remember that stat about how many goals we conceded compared to the chances that were created against us last season Jonty? Do you understand it now?
