Lets not talk about defending at the moment
However, last night i saw a team, a young team in a tough place in must win game come of age.
A result that in previous years we would have lauded the likes of conte and jose for a well deserved gritty victory where the players ran through walls for their gaffer.
This is what i saw last night.
Individually the senior players also finally stepped up which imo they haven't done at all this season. Bar willian
I have been critical of willians wastefulness in what i see as his last season with us, the temptation for me is to limit his first team apps in order to cement a longer term player ( cho ) in his place for next season, however despite being incredibly frustrating in the final third, you cannot deny his commitment and workrate which resonates through the team. hes scored 2 important goals for us in 2 games now and is becoming a crucial player for us again.
Tammy Tomori Mount are giants - these are players we can look to as future leaders, and their battling performances last night were excellent and proof that they deserve to mix it at this level. tomori was magnificent bar the last 10 or so minutes, mount created space and pressed all evening and Tammy scored a goal that if Dennis Bergkamp had scored it it would be all over the papers and replayed a thousand times.
Special mentions to Zouma who was largely collosal, Reece james who for me played it to safe but good nonetheless and CHO who came on and made the difference
another tough game coming up but a win against southampton and we are in very good shape this season
Its starting to come together

id very interested to see how we approach saints this weekend
a good counter team on their day
i think the 3421 might be the way to go but i would like to see us go for it with the 433 and kill the game off early
Tammy to take his tally to 10 goals would be nice as well

Mount must be due a rest soon, but we can't risk having willian and pedro playing together. Maybe cho gets his first start post injury? Not sure on rudi still.

Yeah, you guys have surprised me. Lampard is out-Ole-ing Ole
Entertaining football, youth playing every week and a clear idea of where you’re going. And with the transfer ban you’re making the best of bad circumstances. Our club is going in the complete different direction.

Much as he's still got to learn, there's the bases of a better manager in Lampard than Solskjaer - but that's not really a surprise when you think about it. He got first hand access to so much information as a player from so many top managers all with different philosophies and approaches. Solskjaer only had one primarily, everything else he had to learn himself.
If there was one player from his generation who'd I'd back to succeed in management, provided he made the right career choices, it would be Lampard. He's got the academic knowledge (play for those coaches was a priceless coaching course), and the ambition to always better himself as a person. Nothing stopping him.

Agree Devil, plus it seems to run in his family somewhat, the guy has been involved in back of house football since a kid.
