14/15 We averaged 1.43 expected goals per game and 1.05 expected goals per game against and 1.66 expected points per game.
15/16 We averaged 1.20 expected goals per game and 1.04 expected goals per game against and 1.49 expected points per game.
16/17 We averaged 1.52 expected goals per game and 0.83 expected goals per game against and 1.87 expected points per game.
17/18 We averaged 1.55 expected goals per game and 1.15 expected goals per game against and 1.64 expected points per game.
18/19 We averaged 1.81 expected goals per game and 1.38 expected goals per game against and 1.63 expected points per game.
19/20 8 PL games We averaged 1.52 expected goals per game and 0.77 expected goals per game against 2.00 expected points per game.
In terms of expected goal difference per game average:
14/15 0.38 expected goals per game better
15/16 0.16 expected goals per game better
16/17 0.69 expected goals per game better
17/18 0.40 expected goals per game better
18/19 0.43 expected goals per game better
19/20 0.75 expected goals per game better
Also if you take into account 18/19 season Mourinho vs Solskjaer
Mourinho expected goals per game in 17 PL games was 1.66 and expected goals against was 1.56 and expected points per game was 1.41.
Solskjaer expected goals per game in 21 PL games was 1.92 and expected goals per game against was 1.22 and expected points per game was 1.81. This season that figure has gone up to 2.00 expected points per game.
So Mourinho was 0.10 expected goals better per game last season and Solskjaer was 0.70 expected goals per game better so a 0.60 increase and an increase of 0.40 expected points per game in same season.
So pretty much Solskjaer has made a huge turnaround and allowed us to dominate nearly every game since we have been here and has by far the best defensive stat. In fact its the best defensive record in the league.
So pundits keep saying worst Man Utd team ever and how many goals Liverpool are going to win by etc but ignore the fact Liverpool couldn't even create a chance against an injury ravaged Man Utd and the only side trying to win was Man Utd at the end and with a few good chances to score.
Its like saying Cristiano Ronaldo can't score goals when its the complete opposite. I used to think media had it just in for LVG but it has carried on.
They used to say before where would Man Utd be without De Gea when he was near bottom for saves per game under LVG and even Mourinho 1st season. Near bottom for saves not just in PL but in most leagues you would find it hard to find a keeper saving fewer shots. Its like saying a goalkeeper who makes 2 saves per game which is 1 every half is saving a side from losing. How many teams have keepers who save less than 2 shots per game over a season? Not any.
The only amazing season De Gea has had since SAF left was the 17/18 season.

Oh. Well in that case I'll point out that there are only three times worse than them at creating chances in the league, apart from set pieces. So it's expected that they haven't scored enough goals considering the high expected goal chances from penalties have been missed.
They simply don't create enough, which is normal, considering their midfield.

It's a very valid point. From open play, only three teams are worse than you in terms of expected goals. You don't create enough from open play and therefore struggle for goals.

Its mainly because Rashford is playing like the worst striker in the league. Even Martial when he played was messing up when through.
The big chances created don't count the times when we were through on goal or had an easy chance and completely missed the ball aka Rashford done that about 4 times this season. I reckon if you swapped Ronaldo for Rashford in the same positions he has had he would be on over 10 goals. Thats how bad Rashford has been. He has made sitters not even chances this season. Perfect example we had 3 great moments 1st half at home to Arsenal and he completely messed it up each time. A top striker would have scored 2 and assisted 1 in those positions but he completely messed it up missing the ball and completely messing up pass for easy tap in.
Honestly think Rashford is doing his best to sack Solskjaer. He is actually making Welbeck look like RVP.
Honestly if you watch how many times since 16/17 season on he has been clean through and not scored it must be over 30 times. Thats the weird thing when he first came he was lethal and now he seems to miss every chance when through on goal.
Most top strikers score goals out of nothing. Rashford gets chances handed on a plate or balls crossed perfectly for him but because he has no anticaption of a striker he doesn't score or get a shot off.
For example when a winger like James is in behind and about to pass across goal, most strikers would go forward to tap it in, Rashford would either stop his run or go backwards. When clean through on goal he will not caress the finish but poke it and hope for the best. Thats why Martial being out its like playing with 9 men as it would be better to play a defender as a striker than Rashford.
If you look at our poor form since March Rashford is mainly to blame. If he played in the current Man City side I doubt he would score more than 10 league goals. He scores a goal like every 7 chances.

Considering how confident all pundits and Liverpool and ABU's are that Man Utd are going to get thrashed by Liverpool but forget the best Liverpool size in PL history couldn't even create a chance against an injury ravaged side by Man Utd.
Also Man Utd allow extremely few shots on target against us when we play Liverpool. Its only the Liverpool 3-1 win against us is when they had a lot of shots on goal but even then they got lucky deflected goals to win.
