I was never in support of us hiring Emery. He was okay in Spain and definitely knows how to win the UEFA Cup but it was in PSG that he really showed how average he is. He had one of the best teams in the world and failed to stamp his authority in their style of play.
Our board let us down big time by going for a manager who was out of a job. They should have poached someone already in employment. Someone who imo had coached in the EPL already. Most importantly, someone who's main job was to come in after Wenger and steady the ship for like 1-2 yrs pending when we could take our time and really get a manager who can come on board and win trophies for us.
Utd showed (and still show) that replacing a long serving manager is incredibly difficult but if done right then the transition period will be somewhat bearable.
Board let us down

It took Liverpool 30 years to replace Bob Paisley.

Lets wait for Spurs to fire Poch first then we get him. Cant see them fire him so I guess Emery has to go in the summer then.

On paper he wasn’t a bad choice for a short term transition to stabilise things. Had a good Europa record, and one of getting teams into top 4. But he’s not stabilised anything and has started making our midfield and attack worse. He did bring some positives, but after out collapse in end of last season, he’s not managed to regain any of that promise. Unless he changes things very fast I’m struggling to see hope he’s the man to improve this squad, it’s looking like he doesn’t know how to get this team playing well.
We’re in a period of playing teams we should beat, or at least play well against but we’re not doing either. It’s very worry signs if we want top 4. If we drop points in our next prem games I can’t see a way back for emery.

I was fairly happy with Emery's appointment but it was an ignorant POV based on his UEFA cup success at Seville and an assumption that PSG was a bit of a poisoned chalice (basically win the CL or be sacked).
On closer inspection and in reality after suffering two years of his management the bloke is a poor manager. He's got players capable of far far better and constantly makes selection and tactic mistakes that a novice can tell are wrong.
