It is becoming increasingly obvious that referees want VAR to fail and for it to be scrapped. I guess that they never wanted it in the first place and certainly didn’t want any of their mistakes scrutinised any more than they were already.
This is the only conclusion I can make after all the VAR decisions being made week in, week out, with virtually nothing being overturned, when some are undeniably ‘clear and obvious’ and should be. Of course this is their get out clause!
There are not enough camera angles available to ensure offside’s are 100% correct - with the closest of calls they simply are not ‘clear and obvious’. Yet they have never said once it isn't 'clear and obvious'.
Referee’s refusing to check the touchline screens – It proves they don’t want to use any aids.
It’s a case of Referee’s refereeing each other and the old pals act. “I won’t overrule your decision so as not to embarrass you - so don’t embarrass me next week."
All of the above are designed to cause severe frustration to fans who were in favour of it and are now becoming more disillusioned as the weeks go by.
Referee's v VAR

I heard its low paying. Ex footballers will have more meaningful investments to pursue or maybe they can do it as a hobby because the remuneration would be insignificant compared to their wages.

Refs should actually go and check the screens on VAR like in the World Cup

Biggest issue for me is the Ref not using the monitor...
WTF is the point of having a pitchside monitor & not even entertaining using it...I guess these refs don't want to look pedantic in front of their peers (at VAR centre)
The Chelsea pen was frankly ridiculous - Delofeu took two steps past the tackle before going down like a felled tree
The Everton pen with Alli handling with his arm in the air in an unnatural position was as blatant as it comes...& they took 4 fackin minutes to get it wrong..
The Son was clearly wrong...it was a yellow - yeah it lead to a horrific injury, as a result of the player losing balance & clattering into Aurier
Dreadful weekend of decisions

VAR is a well intended concept which is being implemented poorly. Too many game interruptions which cause the natural game flow to be spoiled. Too many rule implementers/decisions makers fingers in this pie!
The goal-line technology was installed without any problems & game interruptions.
VAR needs to be applied to fewer incidents (eg: only penalty penalty-box issues.
btw: Off-side rule is a mess and was a different issue even before VAR. In the quest for trying to make this game "perfect" we are now calling off-side based upon shoulder position, busy eye brows, length of nose hairs etc., etc., etc.,. Does every goal have to be reviewed? Give the game back to the fans!

You can fix the VAR/Ref issue simply by getting rid of the off pitch decision. The ref on the pitch should make the call after reviewing the monitor himself, in front of both managers and in duscussion with off pitch official. Most refs, I imagine, will happily overrule their own howler after seeing it's a howler.
Refs atm are blatantly refusing to go to the monitor, putting the emphasis on the man off the pitch to call out a colleague as wrong. We're seeing petty t!t for tat rubbish decisions, happening already. Leave the decision firmly in the hands of the man with the whistle but they must be forced to go and review play themselves. The blue print for how to use it is there in rugby and football needs to follow it.
Ultimately the way above also throws the spotlight on individual ref competency. If week after week, we see the same ref, making the same bad calls and repeatedly not overturning them, even after seeing for himself with replays. Then you have a “Clear and obvious,” bad referee who must go. Make 'em use it and make 'em fix their own crap decisions or face being held directly accountable, with video proof.

Nothing will change until Pool or United are shafted by it, so we`ll have a long wait.

Should have already changed then if that's the case
