The magic of the cup arrives 2 months earlier at the unibol. We're used to getting knocked out in the 3rd round but as a consequence of relegation from the championship we will have to win 2 ties to get there for the foreseeable future. The first of those possible 2 fixtures brings ex bury manager Ryan Lowe, 3 bury coaching staff and 5 bury players and the rest of the green army to the unibol. A mammoth journey. 5 and a half hours, 300 miles. Some bury fans expected to make the short journey too so will make a good atmosphere. League 2 opposition this time so Bolton will be favourites to win today and hopefully avoid either going out in the first round or a mid week replay if a draw. Team news. No new injury problems reported but as usual we take this with a pinch of salt. Out long term bunney, Crawford, Buckley, bridcutt. Alnwick reported to be simply unavailable for selection. Brockbank, edwards, earl and Hobbs are reported to be getting close to a return so don't be surprised if any of those return today. 3 players on loan earl, wright and verlinden had no confirmation yet if their parent clubs will allow Bolton to cup tie them today yet.

About right. Plus verlinden too. Will do us a favour today bigger picture and everything. The bench showed how little quality we have.

See where we are in January, and see what is available with the window open for me. Mk Don's away then accrington away. That's 3 midweek spots we could have arranged the 3 outstanding fixtures. A blank Saturday coming up but with Lincoln, Doncaster and burton drawing little hope of a rearranged game. Guessing bolton holding out until players are fit and strengthened in January.

What do the EFL do when a decision is made ? is it white smoke like when a new pope is named or maybe a old factory steam whistle blows and then they all go to the pub and have a go on a football card to see who they do next.

I almost missed this one from KH

Would have thought with so few first team players they would be wrapped in cotton wool between games.

If our players aren't up to the required fitness levels after 10 weeks, something is wrong with the training methods.
Not all players need to be pushed to the limits every day. It seems, according to Keith Hills interviews, that that is what he demands. I suggest that could have a negative effect on fitness. Still, what do I know, I'm not the manager. We do seem to be experiencing a lot of "unavoidable injuries"
