So on this thread we have somebody admitting to not watching the game then saying who should and shouldn't play.

Then we have somebody saying two players were poor. One who effectively opened the scoring and showed great passing range and one who barely gave the ball away the whole game and provided a couple of decent crosses. So tell me, what exactly did Adam and Henderson do wrong? Or is it just that they aren't exciting enough for you, don't do enough backflip stepovers?

Well first of all, my comment was tongue-and-cheek, made soon after I watched the match and not meant to be a serious analysis.

However, the two of them didn't exactly have blinders, did they? Not saying they didn't make any positive impact, but really both need to improve. Keeping the ball is great, but you need to do something with it, plus they didn't do a very good job of holding it in the second half. Yes, Adam had an assist (albeit off of a deflection), and Henderson "provided a couple of decent crosses", but why do they go missing for large chunks of the game? I've never seen the likes of Kuyt, Gerrard and to a lesser extent Suarez and Downing stop trying. Adam drifted out of the game so often, especially the last 20 minutes. Two or three decent crosses isn't good enough for a right sided midfielder in a wing position. If he's out of position, have him compete with Adam for a CM position, but play players who give their all 100% of the time.

Also, you're right, doing some back-flip step-overs into double reverse rabona rainblow flicks would change my mind.

With our luck they'd probably get a yellow card for doing that!!

Adam last season used to run out of steam when playing for Blackpool and it's something I had hoped would have solved after a pre-season with us.

Some players just can't physically handle the intensity for a full 90 minutes. It' no real surprise that he plays well for the most part in the first half of games then fades after 70 minutes or so.

These early games is when our new signings need game time and the backing of the fans. Adam isn't exactly the best player in the league but he is a good squad player who can do a good job.

Henderson has huge potential and needs games and confidence to achieve that potential.

The players we have now are the players we have now(strangely) so it is time for our fans to get behind them. They are playing for our club and trying to push us on. Get behind them and help them achieve it.

Gerrard looks hungry and has something to prove. He could be starting games very soon and you only have to look at our bench to see how far the squad has progressed since last season.

We aren't going to win the league, or even come close but we have a fantastic chance of reaching the Champions League. Then and only then should players be looked at and if need be - replaced with Champions League and title challenging players. It is a simple logic.

And I can see the talent and potential that Henderson possesses.
I can see that he does 'cut it'.
My standards are as high as ever, far above what you have the capability or the wit to perceive.
And unlike you I am not blinded by bitterness.
I have an untainted perspective.
