Violence in the workplace

now some of the posters on this site seem to think its amusing however I would pose the question, how would you cope with it in the workplace

Put your club bias aside and think

I think sterling got off lightly, in any normal workplace (yes I realize this is football) you would be suspended for an investigation and then fired for gross misconduct or maybe worse depending on the severity of the assault.

take your club bias out the way on this one and just think if it happened to you

this case is pretty straight cut, well played Gomez for not reacting

If a Liverpool player firebombed an orphanage they’d try and pin the blame on someone else

Mings, Keane, Tarkowski, mount whilst at Derby, Gibson, Chilwell, cresswell, Mawson, Loftus cheek whilst at palace, Dunk, cork, Gray, Abraham.... all whilst playing for smaller clubs/ not playing at the top level. I bet there are more too.
Gomez fits how Southgate wants England to play. Why would he pick someone who may be playing more but doesn't have the attributes he wants from his CBs? The fact is that if Gomez hadn't got injured last season, he'd have started on the right of the back 3 for England after 2 motm performances for england. He wont start but what is the issue of southgate having him in the squad when he obviously rates him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally I think being selected for England should be based on form and he's not even playing for Liverpool. Honestly I'd have absolutely no issue if he was. Same with Oxlade-Chamberlain. I'm not saying anything about Trent or Henderson, they deserve to be there obviously, I just don't think it's right for players to be selected for the England squad when they're not turning out for their club every week. Is that not fair enough?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So he should select someone who he doesn't see competing for a place as they don't fit with what he wants over someone who has been very good under him and time spent training with the squad will benefit down the line? Gomez wont play, as he hasn't the last couple of squads. No harm in him working with the squad though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well considering Lewis Dunk has been left out for a player who doesn't play, it would appear somewhat unfair. Dunk plays week in week out, is solid, in good form, he's fit and actually has better pass accuracy so fits the style of play Southgate wants. So I think Dunk should be there instead.

Why not let Gomez play for the U21's while he still can? There's plenty of time for him to be involved in the full squad, preferably when he's putting in solid performances for Liverpool every week and then is there on merit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dunk has been in squads and Southgate obviously hasn't rated him with what he's seen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah he's been in the squads and never played, it's a bit harsh to judge someone on a few training sessions and ignore their club form. It's poor management. Look you're obviously Liverpool biased, I'm impartial and don't think Gomez deserves to be there.

Not sure if it's already mentioned in this thread.
But, you guys backed Suarez when he was racist towards another footballer. Now that's worse than mere altercation between 2 equal footballer.
Also, did you write this when Suarez bit a fellow professional?
You Liverpool fans are really something else.

I made that very point yesterday and was immediately accused of bringing up things that happened involving their club decades ago!!

Maybe if you’d actually said what you were referring to, as opposed to writing innuendo’s, then you wouldn’t leave yourself open to being misinterpreted.....

I'm glad to see so many have already decided joe gomez should be dropped by england for next squads.

Clearly the love in for sterling will continue right up until england play a half decent team where sterling will then vanish and then be villified for being the reason england lose.

Its hilarious really how fickle people are.

ive heard several people in the media saying that they both should be dropped even though Southgate states that Gomez did not react to him and all the leaks suggest the same....

AND it has been stated that he went to Southgate to ask for Sterling not to be dropped!

Im really unsure of what Gomez has done to warrant being dropped
