There is a lack of activity on JA606 at the moment - not surprising considering the time of year - so is anybody interested in setting up an East Midlands/Yorkshire forum? I would just involve posting items of news or for debate on a group of boards.
I tried it with an article about the state of England goalkeeping and there was a good response but someone advised me that it would attract "spam" posts. That did not happen. Posters could mark items Midlands/Yorks forum and delete daft messages if idiots swamp it.
The quality of most debates has been quite good since JA606 was launched and as long as posts are kept to friendly rivalry I can't see a problem. Any thoughts?
As an East Midlander if Leicester are not promoted I would rather see our neighbours successful than going-nowhere teams from miles away.

It always makes me smile when fans of other clubs come on and say: “we’re not your rivals” as if it somehow makes them a bigger club. The very act actually reveals a small club mentality as there shouldn’t be any need to say it.
We all know that Forest and Derby consider their rivalry to be extremely important, but outside of those cities it’s just another game. It’s been a lower league game for a generation so why should anyone care.
Frankly we aspire to bigger and better things!

What annoys me is that, whatever strength of feeling there is about respective rivalries, some sad sheep (and Forest fans) appear to be in denial of the fact tht Leicestershire is just as much part of the East Midlands as Notts and Derbys.
Just like the writer, I have a strong sense of a common local identity , and any denial of our region by younger contributors is just displaying ignorance.

Seriously though, a forum with those up norf seems, at the outset, a very good idea and I would want to see it. Sadly though, as has been demonstrated here, it would descend into a free-for-all in no time, with pot shots from 'our' side against Hull resurrecting the moves by Pearson, Fryatt and now Hobbs as ammunition.

Jobyfox!...it doesn't matter how big or small a club is, I see a rival as the team you play on the day, so if someone plays the team next door in the biggest game of their season, or the smallest nobody in the FA/League cups, for that day they are the rivals!..
The next door neighbor thing is when you have a drink with him next door and fall out over a pint of beer!.
It happens every night somewhere in most towns!.

LufcGermany,
I wasn't referring to local rivalries in general just the Derby and Forest one in particular.
Their rivalry, with each other, is very important (to them) and it's the fixture each of their fans wants to win more than any other. For us Leicester fans the situation is more complicated. The South West of Leicestershire really want to beat Coventry, the North and North East Forest and some in the North West, Derby.
There will always be some imbecile who supports Derby or Forest saying: "we don't care about you" in a manner which suggests that the Forest/Derby rivalry is something to which we should aspire. I can't think of a reason why it should be.
In a historical significance the Forest/Derby thing has only been prevalent since Clough and the seventies and eighties. It's the same reason that some Derby fans still hanker after a rivalry with Leeds United.
Beating Forest, Derby and Coventry means slightly more to me than beating other teams because I live in Leicestershire, work in Derby and sit opposite a Coventry fan. That is all.

And what pray is wrong with Leeds United? Surely we would be part of the Yorkshire 'debaters' on this good idea by the original poster.
Do you fear going up against us in honest debate?
