The games are coming thick and fast and Forest find themselves once again away from home facing a tricky game in the capital - Mark Warburton will definitely be wanting to get one over on his former Club
Forest have a great opportunity to strengthen their hold on a playoff place, but once again a well thought and executed plan is in order
Patience will be needed, focus and mental strength through the whole team
I can’t see many changes happening - maybe Bostock or Semedo in the middle to replace Yates
If we can somehow get a win against QPR, it will send out yet another message, just how strong this team is, especially away from home and with a game in hand, we could be in touching distance of an automatic place
Even a Draw wouldn’t be a disaster, so long as we can follow that up with a home win next time out - but a win against QPR would be a massive result - they’ve had a fairly indifferent opening to the season - they shown they can win, but also lose too - they are there for the taking if Forest really want it and are in the right frame of mind
Here’s hoping the manager has them totally focused and ready - let’s make it happen

QPR v FOREST - Match Thread

Think only Collymore, Walker, Pearce and Shilton could lay claim to coming close to the standards Robbo set?

I only saw Robbo in a Forest shirt once. It was Ian Bowyer’s testimonial v Derby and they had a legends match prior to the main game. Robbo was knackered after literally two minutes! 😆
Kenny Burns and Larry Lloyd looked like a decent wrestling tag team!

No chance....maybe Shilton’s on par - but anyone since, forget it

And Will they maybe all be ‘close’ as you say, but they aren’t on par with Robbo

I was a season ticket holder in the East Stand & then the upper Exec so I watched him play for about three seasons every home game. He was a brilliantly gifted two footed player who often took on and beat three players. His crosses were always to an attacking player, he always looked up before kicking the ball. He always took penalties and rarely missed. [Boxing Day at the Cop End/Bridgeford end against Derby]
But the game has moved on, it took a maverick manager in Clough to spot his talent and how to utilise it back then, he rarely played for Scotland, they preferred a junky.
Would he get picked today in the Prem' ? I'm not so sure.

Carvalho and Robertson are the same age when Lamouchi and Clough took over. That’s about it.
Carvalho adopted successfully from Karanka to
O’Neill, but it took a long time. When he did and his fitness peaked he was unstoppable.
I just don’t think he’s fit enough yet. Plus, he hasn’t proved to Lamouchi that he’s the preferred option. Part of that being that Silva is a better option. Especially when the option next to Watson, is either Bostock, or Silva.
At that point the consensus seemed that him and Silva can’t play in the same team. Before then everyone was chanting his name when he didn’t start.
The real comparison is between him and Silva. Silva is poorer in every way, but physically. That’s Carvalho’s and the teams biggest problem though. When we have Semedo and Sow out, he’s just too lightweight to start.
Carvalho either has to adapt to the system, have a stronger team around him, or he goes to the gym a bit more often. Oh, and has consistency and fitness to add to his game.
At that point he’ll have a slim chance of being as good as Robertson. However, if he is, it’s likely to be with someone else.
If we can one day get to the Preniership, then I think he’ll shine.

Thank you El Bosque for making my defence for me. I have nothing to add to what has already been said

Actually I will add something.
We must remember it is a team game, so I just wonder how much better would Carvalho have been had he played in the European cup winning team for the Clough/Taylor management duo. (But on those pitches and against defenders of the time)

Not having a full pre-season is a big miss for Carvalho. People often say it is hard to catch up with the rest of the squad once the season has started as they’re already at their peak and the attention in training moves to tactical play. He will have to do a fair bit of extra work to catch up. Difficulty is, the games come thick and fast now and the pitches are heavy so you also have to factor in proper recovery time so it is a fine balance.

Silva is four years older and therefore more experienced. I think that shows in how he has adapted so well to this league whereas Carvalho sometimes gets a little lost. I think it will come for him but he needs careful nurturing to gain that same type of consistency.
