Last week

Last Thursday it was my birthday. Among the many presents I got was the new Arsenal top.

Arsenal were also playing in the evening, so I settled down to watch as a treat. The commentators said during the game that if we lost we'd be on our biggest slide since the late Seventies, so really I should have known better.

We were shambolic. Truly terrible. Even a couple of iffy VAR decisions couldn't hide the fact that we were a shadow of our former selves. I was surprised at how well Xhaka played (aside from the error at the end that Maupay failed to capitalise on), and Leno did his best to keep us in it, but there was little else to pick from. Dire.

We need a big result today. If we don't get one, we will be in the worst tailspin I've ever seen us in, and it's all downhill from that.
