Another home game, and another opportunity to get our act together and begin maximising the home advantage
It seems others teams around us are stuttering at the moment, and so it would be great to see Forest take the initiative and make it count
It’s becoming increasingly frustrating to see us waste so many golden opportunities that are presented to us, and the dropped points will really come back to haunt later in the season if we don’t buck up our ideas
The overriding worry is why Forest seem incapable of really imposing themselves on other teams especially at home. We seem to be fairly solid away, but very poor at home - the manager needs to get a grip and sort it out - quickly
Sheff Wed are pretty much like us - consistent at being inconsistent. But again this should be a game where we pick up 3 points, but I don’t feel at all confident in the way that we play
We have a game in hand which would take us to 3rd, but in such a poor league this year where no really seems to standout, it’s such a shame that we haven’t made more of the opportunity, because we could easily have been in the mix for an automatic spot
Here’s forever hoping, that there’s still time to get our act together and make a fight for it in the 2nd half of the season

FOREST v SHEFF WED - Match Thread

Yes Sow and Ribs have been missed but I think the replacements have been adequate. Better replacements than Yates and Robinson would not be happy to be seen as just squad players.
Sabri picked the wrong team for the third time in not many weeks. When we have to play three games in eight days he needs to rotate the squad. Next game he needs to give a rest to those players who need one: Dawson, Watson, Silva, Ameobi. Bring in Figs, Semedo, Johnson, Adomah. Then continue to rotate the squad until we can get some new players in and a few out the treatment room.
It has been obvious for a while that the transfer window will define our season. Quality not quantity required.

Look, it’s quite simple really, you don’t drink Dom Pérignon when you’re having burger and chips on Saturday afternoon, it just doesn’t work, it’s can’t be truly appreciated, and you just don’t do it
You need a pint of home brew or a good mug of tea, something that works with that particular meal
You save the Dom Pérignon for when your hosting a fine dinner party in the evening
It’s the same with Carvalho, you don’t put him in a team that needs blood, guts, sweat and tears, a team that needs to get out there and fight for everything, a team that’s prepared to be ugly in order to get the right result
Now when the hard graft is done, and the team is 3:0 up with 30 minutes to play...that’s when you serve up the quality to add that little bit of specialness
Starting him at the beginning is a handicap to the whole team, there not only carrying an extra player, he’s someone that’s going to offer very little, when what you really need is a fighter and battler
The sooner the manager realises that, the better it will be for the whole team
At the moment, he’s a luxury that we just can’t afford to have - it’s too detrimental to the whole team

Whilst I get your point Carvalho was definitely one of our better players yesterday, at least he tried, though tbh he didn’t have a lot to beat. Samba didn’t have any chance at all with any of the goals, Cash wasn’t that bad and Grabban although for the most was again isolated tried his best. The rest varied somewhere between scores of 2 and 5 out of ten, and I include Sabri in that, he just stood and watched, almost shell shocked, and as I said earlier made no attempt to stem the flow, very worrying. It can’t be put down to ‘one of those games’, as it has happened far too regularly, and for now will put it down to another learning opportunity, but we need a vast improvement, especially at home, very soon, or the whole season will unravel, very quickly.
