Why is it that when United identify a player they want it normally takes ages not only that but that but we so close to signing but a team comes out of no where and pips us to the player. On a side note oh how I wish we could see some out of the blue signing like fergie use to do like a rabbit out a hat cantona, Cole theres plenty more.

As the media seem to link us with hundreds of players, I don't think an out of the blue signing will happen in this age. Different times now.

One word beginning with E and ending with d. No letters in the middle.

Why is it that United can't identify their own players before having to spend obscene amounts of money trying to pry them away from other clubs?
Is your recruitment done off Fifa?

Times have changed...
We at Manchester United have several factors that can influence this.
1. Ed Woodward.
2. Being Manchester United Cash Cow.
2.a We use them to bargain with other clubs.
2.b We use them to negotiate a better salary.
3. We know they're average right now, but as a star player i might be tempted mainly because of the big salary on offer.
4. Poor recruitment policy.
This has been our story post SAF certainly. But to be fair to the club, the last year or so we have started to curb points '3' and to an extent point '4'.

Our recruitment of youth is spot on, Rashy, McT and plenty of others.
James was not a fortune.
AWB was expensive, but worth it imo.
So not all bad news. Our main failing has been trying to sign the 'star' player, and we weren't great at that under SAF, although better.

James is the kind of signing that Leicester would make so that one is fair enough but it's not very often that United look to the lower leagues for younger players to develop.
It seems that you'd rather spend an absolute mint on a player once they're proven, which some might say United need to do because of the size of your club and the expectations but it's annoying for clubs like us who sign them, develop them into players who are good enough only for clubs like United to be linked with them every time a transfer window comes along.
