It is clear to see that most of us thought that winning against a Norwich side on the slide is "given" yesterday.
I am not sure we even gave Norwich any merit in that game, but we all laid the blame on our players and the manager.
However, rewind a bit. Norwich to their credit, were chasing and hunting in packs and were desperate for points and showed commitment and hard work, in all parts of their game. They weren't the lame ducks like Newcastle that played United previously.
From now on, the teams in the bottom six will fight for every points and use any means they can to take points wherever they'll get, so no games will be easy.
There are still bits of the game that would have pleased Jose.
Ndombele, subjected to some horrendous tackles, how that stupid ref didn't give their players more yellow cards I don't know, played superbly and showed some level of fitness more than he ever previously did.
Ndombele is going to be a beast of a player for us, no doubt about it. However, we need to protect him for the wild challenges like he received from their players.
Eriksen was a plus too. Not just his mastery of the art of playmaking, but he also chased back to protect the defense and scored from a ....freekick!
Lo Celso, for me, played out his position at times, and yet he was solid. He has some good touches and an ability to unlock defenders. He is stil finding his place in the side, but for someone thrusted into the mix, he is progressing well. Look at other clubs where foreign players are given time to bed in.
Lamela, also a plus. He looked like he needs more match fitness, but we all knew that, and yet Lamela gave it all and chased and hurried their players. We fans, love players who give it their best and Lamela did that.
Moura has flourished under Jose, clearly and in the last two games, put in a shift and backtracked and tackled like a defensive midfielder.
Dele and Kane were hit and miss for me. Dele needs to do more, specially in games where we lacked Son's runs. Kane kept dropping deep trying to be a playmaker. He is an astounding striker and the records speak for themselves, 3rd on the list of all time strikers who played 200th game, and yet he drifts away from the goal? Off day for both.
A lot of pluses from yesterday's game. To think Norwich had a ZERO shots on target in the second half and yet scored a goal (own goal) is probably what upsets most fans.
Unfortunately, yet again our defense showed why that's clearly an area needing investment. While other clubs were spending £100+m, we have starved our side of quality injection of players.
The defense is glaringly obvious as the main area to improve.
Spurs must now invest in that area. No ifs, no buts. If there was a match that showed the vulnerabilities well, yesterday's game was it. Spurs dominated the game, to the point it was Spurs camping in their half for most of the game.
Yet, shambles at the back got them crucial goals. I hate to pinpoint players, and no names mentioned, Aurier . Is this player that clueless or what (in defense)?
Overall, we are not badly placed for CL places, and comparing this to few weeks ago. We had a chance to get into the CL place but we didn't lose the game and that's the other plus.
We fought back and didn't drop the points. Norwich are no mugs. They beat City and only just lost to other big sides.
We move on, and the season isn't over. The task is now to ensure Eriksen is tied down with a contract. Rumours of Real Madrid wanting to do a swap deal with him, but they are just rumours. Rumours of Jose looking to do deals with Real for a defender too.
More than a midfielder, we need fullbacks first
Did we not come to the conclusion in the summer? What changed? Instead of getting FBs, we got a new manager and still suffer from not having got FBs?
That's the bit some fans are upset about I guess.
Good lessons learnt

Excellent article Morespurs. And as you say, although we didn`t win the two big positives were N`noble and Eriksen. Both were very, very good.

Thanks mate
If the best dropped points against Norwich, how strange is it, that we did?
It had all the hallmark of an upset. They were bottom of the league following Watford's excellent win, and it was on TV, and evening game and on a Saturday. Plus Delia was there
We didn't lose and that's a big plus for me. We are still in the chasing pack.
Spare a thought for Tomkins and his mates. Pelle got the elbow yesterday and they are managerless ...yet Again!

It wasn't just the defence that wasn't good enough yesterday the lack of chances we created from open play was shameful.
Other than picking the ball out of the net twice (from a deflected free kick and a pen) I think their keeper had to make one decent save in the whole game.
When you consider that after another ridiculously slow start we had more or less complete control in the 2nd half we should have been peppering their goal with shots.

Good post and a refreshing take on what was a tough game yesterday. The likes of Bournemouth, West Ham, Watford, Norwich, Villa and our next match at Southampton will not be be easy but I’m confident José is learning about our squad very quickly.

Ndombele is going to be great player. Looks like a player we going to enjoy watching.
