Result great, performance mixes

I'll take a win no matter how we get it. Onwards and upwards.
The performances in the first half was shocking. It was Emeryesque. Gaps in midfield, no pressing, could not string 5 passes together and Leeds at one point had 12 shots to our 2. We could easily have been down by 2 goals and Leeds will watch that and wonder how they did not score.
Second half... looks like Arteta said the right thing and the tide turned. More energy and hunger from the team and we scored. Much better performance by all.

All in all, good cup tie to watch...both teams attacking. On the basis of this game, hope Leeds gets promoted.

Ref was CRAP!! Xhaka should have been booked. How he escaped getting a yellow card is a mystery. Lacazette should have gotten a red for his kick out. If that happened to our player, we'd be up in arms. All in all, the standard of refs in England is BAD and VAR is hurt by that too.

Have a word. It was a little trip, after the defender grabbed hold of him.
Sokratis took more of a kick in the corner.

I am not saying I'd agree with it...but retaliation especially off the ball is normally a red card. It does not matter how hard it's done etc.

It does, violent conduct requires "excessive force" or " brutality".
A yellow card possibly, but VAR doesn't give yellows.

I thought Laca deserved a red to be honest. Stupid decision from him.

Today was a good test for Arteta and I'm happy with the way it went. Sounds like he gave them an earful at half time from what Laca said. One of the question marks for me over Arteta was whether or not he would menacing enough when players weren't pulling their weight and give them a bollocking - in what some would consider a nothing game he held them to account. Good progress for me.
