Player ratings vs. Villa (League Cup)

The latest in a line of unconvincing home performances saw us draw 1-1 against a depleted and limited Villa team. Better is required in the away leg.

Here are my ratings:

Schmeichel: 6 - Didn't see a lot of action, as is becoming the usual these days.
Ricardo: 6 - In the wars. Nullified somewhat as Villa had done their homework on him this time around.
Soyuncu: 6 - Fought well, but again there was a hint of a loss of temper. Needs to learn to control it.
Evans: 7 - Calmly saw off most of the more dangerous situations.
Fuchs: 7 - Filled in nicely; played his part.
Chilwell: 5 - Energy levels were fine but time and again he neglected the opportunity to run at his opposing wing back. As a result, moves kept on going nowhere other than backwards. First impressions are that he could have done better for the Villa goal too.
Praet: 5 - Mastered the turn and the pass backwards. Offered nothing other than Puelball.
Tielemans: 5 - Asked to play a holding midfield role in the first half, given the absence of Ndidi. But excelled at neither controlling the game nor being a ball winner. The introduction of Choudhury got him further up the pitch, where he looked happier. Currently looking too seldom like the player we wanted and too often like the player Monaco wanted rid of.
Maddison: 6 - The most complete of the original midfield three; positive and busy but too often given too few options.
Perez: 7 - Looked a lot better on the ball than he has done for much of the season and went close with a technical shot that almost reversed back into the net. I believe Rodgers is trying to find a freer role for him as opposed to being a right winger, and he looks happier for it. Whether this suits the balance of the team is another matter.
Vardy: 6 - Didn't look entirely sharp in the first half, but kept going and got an assist.

Choudhury: 7 - Sometimes seems to switch off and finds himself reacting to things that have happened rather than being right on it. But overall he provided a drive and determination that was lacking from the midfield in the first half. Should have started and is pushing for a more permanent place in the 11. Won a tackle he had no right to to create the goal. My choice for our MOTM.
Iheanacho: 7 - Continues to do a good job when called upon; his goal/assist contributions per minute are quite astounding this season.
Albrighton: 7 - As with Choudhury, showed some much needed energy to take the game to Villa.
