If...and itβs a big IF, we could land Dwight Gayle on a permanent deal, even if it cost us Β£8M, that would be a massive boost
I wouldnβt even be bothered about going up this season, although that would be fantastic
But a full season next year with both Grabben & Gayle up front, I think would make us strong favourites for promotion - I could see them getting 40+ goals between them
Definitely is a risk worth taking - go all out and get Gayle, forget Murray - Gayleβs the one who I believe would get us there
GRABBEN & GAYLE

The mags are reported as saying that Gayle is availability but with conditions attached
An obligation to buy at the end of the season for, wait for it. ..... 20m yes 20m, 10m at the end of this season and 10m next
Plus
The buyer has to pay a large chunk of his 60k per week wages, noting that he is currently injured and somewhere around the 30 year old mark, doesn’t sound like a gamble worth taking.
I agree that Glenn Murray is not what we need as he is well past his sell by date.
An excellent investment would be Jarrod Bowen from Hull as he is out of contact at the end of the season, test the waters with a decent bid, even around the 8-10m mark would be sound.

I didn’t know all that dave - seems like if what you say is true, then forget it π€

Rev there is another ‘rumour’ that Gayle could be going to WBA for 8m, so basically you pays your money and takes your choice as to which is true, probably just agent talk, I certainly don’t think Gayle is better than Grabban, therefore by my logic is not worth more than the 6m we paid for Grabs, even at 8m he is too pricey as he will still want 40+K per weekend a decent length contract.

Jonathan Kodjia would also be an excellent addition if we could get him

Rev of the forwards we have been linked with Kodijia would be my preferred choice, he moved at the same time as we bought Britt, but for a lot more money. He hasn’t been great at Villa, but if he felt he had something to prove, at 30, he could be a real asset, I also think he would suit our type of play, certainly more than Murray.

Murray is past it - 5 years ago, he would have been perfect, but he’s looking for 1 last big pay day - hopefully not at our expense

I'd take Murray on loan to the end of the season in a heart beat and over any of those.
It's the January window and we need a boost to cement our place or push on, not necessarily a permanent signing.
He scored 13 in the Prem last season and played in every game. He's just what we need IMO.

Talk seems to be the chances of a deal are stalling abit. He’d do a job, but I don’t think he’d do as well as people expect and with age and cost factored in, is it a good deal all considered?
We must be going after someone proven though, otherwise we might as well recall Tyler Walker, although I wouldn’t be too angry if brought him back to be part of a front 2 or 3

Gayle deal would start and end when beetroot head asks for £8 mill.
Murray past it, if we gave him an 18 months contract I doubt we would get above a dozen games from him.
Adams would be good but he is in soton’s match day squad.
I’d like to see us make a cheeky bid for Marriott. But I think best option would be someone from abroad plus a recall for Walker.
I think QPR could be tempted to sell Hugill.
