The FA Cup

I will start by saying Klopp has every right to do what he is doing.
If I was a Liverpool fan I certainly would not be angry with a man who gave me the CL last year, and almost certainly the PL as a minimum this year.
He's a great manager and I'm envious.
But the Cup.
Your memories will be different to mine.
For me first year at Wembley, United 3 Leicester 1 Dennis Law becoming the king.

Gordon Hill dancing with the cups lid on his head.

Eric's goal against you when he came back.

I like the Cup, but it seems Jurgen doersn't much, he's not made big efforts other years.
So if I was a Liverpool fan I certainly would not be angry, and would defend hiim.
But I would be disappointed.

Very good post, manusince, but I would take issue on one point. It isn’t a case of Jurgen not liking the competition, it’s more an issue of his and our team burning out.

Having watched him in press conferences, he repeatedly makes that point of all the different football associations, the FA, EUFA, FIFA, African and South American FA, they appear to have two traits in common:

1. They want to screw the game into the ground - they don’t seem to care - to make as much money out of it for themselves and travel the world, a la Sepp and his shower of shiiiite.

2. They don’t talk to each other. They don’t care how many competitions there are, burning out players in the process, overlaps, etc., all they want is to make money.

And the end result is that the quality of play in the PL heads South, with players increasingly exhausted.

Jimmy, good points but as I’ve mentioned I just can’t get on board with the burnout. You can’t tell me playing Adrian, Lovren, Minamino, Ox etc would put them at risk of burning out

just to be clear.

The football league screwed us on league cup.

Its the FA screewing us on the FA cup.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The football league didn't screw us. We chose not to ask for the game to be moved as it would have affected the league games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really? Is there a link?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah loads of them.

Grated, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if some or even all of the players you mentioned play in that game, having asked to be considered in the first place.

But the first team members need a break. The Wolves game was Robertson’’s least positive performance. Sadio - hamstring. Mo - just not getting to that final position, failing to beat an opponent in the dribble, poor shots on goal. Roberto - the guy needs a rest, even if he doesn’t realise it himself. Hendo - running himself into the deck; he can’t keep going forever.

The fact that Klopp says he won't be managing the game means those players won't play, especially since he confirmed they wouldn't. That's why this is more than resting players, it's a protest.

Resting your core team would be totally understandable, and wouldn’t have warranted the response he gave after the game. That’s what makes me think it looks like he plans to rest the second string too. We’ll see I suppose, but it definitely feels more like the point toor is making at this stage.

I’m not against anything TOOR has said. I think it is a protest, but a protest based on sound reason.

I guess we will see what time plays, if it is totally youngsters though you’d have to see it as a bit of a slap in the chops for those associated with Shrewsbury who earned the replay?

I find the fixture complaints quite complicated at the moment. Can understand fans siding with their clubs and managers, at the same time ultimately most of us just want to see our team play as much as possible. For City after being starved of success for so long I wanted to see us compete to win every competition we enter, obviously there are two trophies which carry more weight than the rest, but I don’t understand why some fans belittle the smaller competitions when they support sides which have gone for years with nothing (not saying you have done this btw just a general comment)

Klopp has managed the team into a position that he can make these demands. If Liverpool were 3rd or 4th in the PL and hadnt won the CL, he would get a lot of backlash from the fans to 'forfit' the FA replay, I presume.

He has a bit of leverage now and he is using it to full force. Many managers have complained, and are complaining, about the number of matches having to be plaid. I imagine Klopp is taking this stance to benefit all players and managers, not just Liverpool.

Good for him.
