Melissa Reddy, one of our favourites of course has made comment that we can expect a low level of activity this summer.
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/liverpool-transfer-news-mbappe-sancho-havertz-summer-melissa-reddy-a9314306.html?utm_source=reddit.com
Of course the usual flurry of rumours will abound as the premier, wolds super european champions go into the summer transfer window
However on balance one needs to look at our squad first and then see what we need
GK: Alisson, Adrian, 3rd gk?
RB: TAA, williams
LB: robertson
RCB: Gomez, Matip
LCB: VVD, lovren
No 6: Fabinho
LCM: wijanldum, keita
RCM: henderson, Ox, milner
LF: mane, origi
false 9: Firmino, minamino
RF: salah, shaqiri
This would on its face suggest 3 signings: LB, no 6 and RF.
...............................................................................................................
however then we must consider the young talent and who may leave:
Leavers:
Clyne - he's toast, we all know it.
Lallana - out of contract and likely to move.
Lovren - talked about leaving a bit in summer. would he go or stay one more year?
shaqiri - hasn't worked out again. probably will talk about moving on.
wilson - perennial loanee and struggling along with bournemouth side.
Young kids:
Ki - probably need game time now. a loan could happen.
Jones - another who might benefit from a years loan but equally could stay
Elliott - too soon for a loan
williams - likely to be reserve rb now.
Van den berg - hasn't shown enough.
kelleher - frankly really needs to go out on loan and play. really needs to sharpen up.
larouci - never a full back imo, just no way.
returning loanees:
Brewster: 4 games, 2 goals for swansea. is it enough to sharpen him up for next year?
Grujic - is he up to it? perennial loanee
Grabara - we will see if he is 3rd keeper next year after his loan out.
.....................................................................................................................
It really looks to me the one position we will see some movement on is LB.
I could see us try to retain Lovren and bring back grujic for next season and realy then the question is whether shaqiri moves on and we bring jones or elliott closer to first team starting places.
ONE signing? could happen i guess.
Stick or Twist?

That's fair, but also I would suggest that's probably adequate for a full back in our team - if he can get forward quickly that's a fantastic attribute
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes but he's got to actually be able to defend and clearly he's not great. see alberto moreno.

So Klopp, Edwards & Gordan really sat over some steak and decided if they should end all of football next season or not...like some Sopranos style hit being called.
I love this club

they decided to build us a stand instead

Lallana lovren shaqiri will prob be gone. Hendon and wij hitting 30 with milner 35. Keita and ox too injury prone.
So I really do think we need 2 midfielders at minimum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So
Fabinho
Henderson
Keita
Wijnaldum
Ox
Milner
Jones
And two more?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
thats 7 for 3 spots.
IMO add grujic if that is the plan and suddenly its 8 for 3. thats imo enough, more than enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think for future planning we need a couple more for mid. Then see some of the 30 year olds phased out.

I reckon the Minamino signing is the shape of things to come, Klopps only concern is to sign players who provide the intensity he’s looking for.
I think player like Shaq and Lallana will move on as already mentioned and that every effort will me made to draw on young players coming through before going to the transfer market. I think Larouchi is a player Klopp could very well improve into what we need.

The key win for us is us tying down all of our main stars. Keeping this crop of players together is something that shouldn't be over looked.
Over the years we've lost key players every year and we've failed to progress.
Jürgen has shown what he can do by keeping a group of players together and adding maybe one or two RIGHT players that fit his way. I trust him.

Shaq is 100% gone in the summer along with, I would say Lallana. I'm pretty sure Origi will be going nowhere and expect him to get more minutes as the season goes on, hopefully through the middle where he looks a different player. Such is our position this season where Minamino can get more minutes than expected so will hopefully bring his development along. I think that we 100% need a new left back but who will come in that is good enough, but knows he will never be first choice?
For me, I still want a forward who can play across the line. Dembele is and has always been my first choice. Can play left and right in the same style as both Salah and Mane so would deputise either side and when Bobby has one of his off patches, we can move Salah through the middle and that again makes room for Dembele. The key for me is bringing in players that don't compromise the things we do well. This is why Shaq doesn't get the game time, even when fit as he just doesn't have the assets that our team relies on in terms of movement and pace. It is also why I don't think Wilson has a future with us. Interesting summer though for sure.

have to agree with all of the above.

also must agree with above. they are all hungry too which helps the long contract.
stay and win. imo Salah would be first at the exit door if he thought a move would get him more cl titles. given hes staying he must think we are sh..t hot

We will be daft to sell our top scorer and arguably our most marketable player.

yes we would but we equally couldn't stop him going if he decided he was going to go.
my point is he is most interested in cl and must see us as a good bet to compete and frankly isnt getting a better offer anywhere. he could go where ever and end up seeing us win no 7
