Regrets...Yay or Nay ?

McC'er gets sent off late on.....Blah blah blah,
We all know what happened next.
But what followed at the end in my view, was regrettable & quite possibly very damaging !

L Clark, "He will find it very hard to get back in the side again" ....

I also understand he sent someone darn the tunnel to inform McCombe that 'He had just cost us two points' ?

Problem easy fixed, as in ex-captain returns to side & all is well !
er,....Might not work out quite that easy.
Kay has come to the club as an ex-Captain, waited what would have seemed an eternity to get back to that status, never really performed to any full potential 'under' Clarke in the back line...
Now we have a possible situation of two chiefs & not enough Indians,

Has Clark made a difficult situation worse by telling McCombe he's now on the 'outer' !
What type of manager is he, Will he regret what he has said, or dig his heels in & stand by those comments...(which it has to be said were made far too soon under stress)
How would YOU react come Monday morning, as manager, now the dust has settled ?
Apologize, even if it's only in private & behind closed doors so to speak,
or Literally leave McCombe out for good, training with the reserves.

& how will you feel as fans, if the formation goes back to 4-5-1, & TOWN play 20 yards too deep as mentioned by '38'...simply because Clarke is back in the side.

Peter Clarke has to come back in on saturday for me given the opposition. Nothing against Cooper, but perhaps not the best game for him to come into!

Brentford are a decent side and they showed this towards the end of last season. Im sure they will be physical and as long as Kay organises the defence, then the steel that is Clarke, should hold the back line firm!

As for the captaincy, Clarke must be given the armband as hes club captain. Surely this would be odd if not? Not saying its the right thing to do but im sure having your club and usual match captain in the team must count for something?

hes not club captain no more or hed be playing. he can go ballacks for me ive seen enough in his first 2 games this season to tell me hes not mentally or physically good enough.

I think he is club captain Tez and will be unless Lee Clark takes a dramatic turn before the end of this season!

Im not saying he is deserving of the captaincy, but i think it will be odd if he does not retain the armband if he plays next weekend. What does anyone else think?

Think he should play and be captain. Jeez, he's come in for some stick lately. Top guy and top player for me - not in the same world as McCockup. Has anyone ever gone from hero to zero as quickly?

Seems so in this case ENB! Ive advocated for him the past and we seem to be in the minority now!

top guy..possibly..

top player, never...

wrong place, wrong time, puts everyone else in the wrong place and makes our full backs, just full backs.. jack hunt wont get over the halfway line with p clarke captaining.. and callum wont have a clue whats going on next to him, and probably a long way behind him most of the time..

having tattoos and pulling a war face isnt enough.. you at least have to understand that there are 3 other players alongside you and there main job is not covering for your inadequacies..

i tend to agree with 38 ive never been a lovey dovey pc fan like most i see past the nice guy routine and see his technical ability which isnt too good if im honest and perhaps even being kind!

P Clarke doesn't 'shine' in this league,
(Kay & McCombe have proved that)

And to all intents & purposes, 'we' are trying for a League higher !
I'm with Tez & 38.

its nothing personal.. i just dont think any central defender in any league does himself or the team any favours by wanting to defend so deep..any slight mistake or any favourable bounce or deflection from those sort of distances is a good chance..
if you are going to give away a free kick or get beaten by a forward, best to be as far up the pitch as you can.. gotta make the opposition have to do some work to get a goal..

Would Clark have come out with the same comments had Peter Clarke been sent off?

I also think he knows he has signed too many players and is desperate for excuse to drop someone,
