Formation changing???

We won the game so we all left Anfield happy, but you look into the team selection of certain games and wonder why?

Under Kenny we have had several top class performances such as fulham away, wolves away, Birmingham home, the mancs home, Bolton home this season. The common theme was mobility around the striker allowing fluidity of passing and movement all around the pitch!

Also Brighton away last week with Bellamy and maxi causing panic in the opposition midfield/ defence sandwiched inbetween the spurs horror show and Saturday's 2-1 victory.

Personally I love Kenny, his knowledge of the game is immense, I just cannot see any logic in this tinkering with a formation and style of play which clearly suits us and reverting to a rigid predictable and slow looking 4-4-2?

Yeah it seems that Kenny is showing a lot of faith in certain players but I just hope that we change a few for the next two games because we simply cannot afford to carry anyone against everton or the mancs otherwise we will be beaten soundly!

So many times on saturday we gave away cheap possession but luckily we didn't get punished, the same team/formation against quality opponents will be a disaster in waiting, like spurs home and away!

Kuyt-------Gerrard------------Lucas-------Downing

-------------Bellamy-----------Suarez----------------

Bench:

Doni
Kelly
Aurelio
Adam
Henderson
Maxi
Carroll

In my opinion, that's the best 18 players at Liverpool football club. (Haven't seen enough of Coates)

And our best team, i'm sure that would get the fluidity your talking about!

No spare centre back in the subs? Not really ideal is it.

Skrtel or Coates have to be in there.

Plus 442 does not work!!!

The two games against spurs prove that 4-4-2 with Andy playing is asking for trouble, it nullifies Suarez and he has to work twice as hard simply because Andy is nowhere near on his wavelength!

I always like to see players earn their place in the starting XI but that is not happening right now !

I would go for this against Everton :-

-------------------------------Riena-------------------------------------
Kelly----------------Carra---------------Skrtel------------Enrique
------------------------------Lucas--------------------------------------
------------------------------------------Adam--------------------------
----------Kuyt-----------------------------------------------Downing
---------------------------------------Carroll----------------------------
-------------------------------Suarez-----------------------------------

Against the Crustaceans, I would go for this:-

---------------------------------Reina-----------------------------------
Johnson--------------Carra--------------Skrtel--------Enrique
-------------------------Lucas------------Adam---------------------
-------------Kuyt-----------------Gerrard------------Downing-----
--------------------------------Suarez----------------------------------

There's only.

I agree with you about Carroll behind Suarez, Andy played quite deep against Wolves and he had a good game.

I also love how you call the scûm the crustaceans.

I myself see Man United as the world's most popular gaybar but there you go.

Didn't Kenny say in an interview last season that he wouldn't be changing his formation to nullify opposition? I think it went along the lines of 'we'll keep playing the way we want to play and let the opposition worry about that if they want to. "

I can see what he meant to an extent (eg Skrtel at RB against Bale), and with the right formation we could beat anyone on our day. I just don't think he's found that formation quite yet, hence the tinkering. Mind you in the last days of his previous tenure at Anfield, he did a lot of tinkering and rotation then too. Funny how he got criticised in those days, and now everyone does it.

Just realised that in most of those 'top class performances.' Maxi was playing. Hmmmmm.... Interesting.......
