This is nonsense.

Kick out, studs first, from a ground position into the opposition player with no attempt to play the ball. Exactly the same offence. If one's a red so's the other whether there was intent or not (personally don't think there was in either).

When anyone says that, you know they're talking nonsense.

Son properly kicked up - his foot raised quite away. Maguire didn't. His leg straightened but I don't think they're the same at all.

Ultimately it's down to opinion, but to say they're the same and that the punishment for each one has to be the same is simply incorrect.

Just because it's premeditated doesn't mean it's necessarily violent conduct.

The point above is that you have to judge each incident on its own merits - no two incidents are the same and it's pointless suggesting that they are.

so was I...still a moot point for both of us, it's done now aint gonna change

Exactly the same offence as in both should've been ruled as violent conduct, that's my opinion, not both were physically a mirror image incident
