It has all the markers of Mourinho's spat with Shaw at United. Sometimes he takes against a player and decides to make an example of them, even if it means playing poorer players instead to make a point.

There's been articles about him telling Real Madrid players it would be better to lose Champions League ties so they could blame the referees. The guy is absolutely obsessed with his image and his persecution complex. I firmly believe he would rather play a weaker player (Skipp) and lose because he has his ready-made narrative about blaming Ndombele for being so mentally and physically weak, and how it's not his fault Pochettino left him with such a weak player etc etc

This is how he protects himself against his own failures. He always gets his excuses in early, and gaslights the press and his own employers/players. If he says it's not his fault enough times, people will start to believe him, and that's how he makes sure he gets another good job after the current one inevitably goes south.

It probably sounds properly tinfoil but this is absolutely Mourinho's style. I know Ndombele isn't as fit as he should be, but he's not going to get fitter by sitting on a bench instead of playing. Skipp should not be playing ahead of him, and we already know Mourinho has had a pop at Ndombele before now.

Sigh. Somehow it's never quite as simple as "pick best team, try hardest, win or lose" with Mourinho.

Jose should play him in as many games as possible to up the fitness levels and getting to climatise to this league?
