Eric Dier

Was he right last night to try and confront the fan who gave him shat ?

I've heard a mixture of things from a fan hurling racist abuse at Gedson to some one saying something about his brother.

I even heard someone got the last bear at the goal line bar, and he snapped

Either way has he just killed his career at spurs or will he still be around ?

Thoughts !

My son was nearby, Dier didn't attack anyone, he just told him to talk to him not his family. He was daft to get into the stands but we're all human and even the best of us can snap when some nonce is mouthing off at you. Just because you pay to watch a game it doesn't give you a right to scream foul abuse at a player.
I thought Dier had a much better game as cb and his pen was perfect.

After to listening to Rio Ferdinand and Robbie Savage, 2 guys who know all about abusive and threatening comments from fans, you just can't really defend what Dier did. You can understand it but not defend it. A hefty ban awaits I think.

Almost certain that Dier will get a ban. Pretty unprofessional really whatever the circumstances. Players just cannot go leaping into the crowd.

Just wrong. He could have started a riot there.

There already was one, did you see the penalty shootout.

Not being funny, if a fan went onto the pitch to confront a player, he would rightfully get punished and probably banned for life, not to mention possibly arrested to. So why is it ok for Dier to climb the stands like an orangutan and start fighting with supporters ? He’s completely in the wrong. His brother wasn’t getting beaten up. What probably happened was Dier getting abuse by a supporter which happens at every ground and Diers brother probably felt the need to say something, which then caused an argument. Dier is a pr*** and sh** anyway, so if he gets banned then good. Hopefully won’t have to see his useless a** in a Spurs shirt again. Got no time for some of these players anymore, so disconnected with most of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's impossible to say whether or not the reaction was warranted without knowing what was actually said/how it involved his brother. So without knowing that information I don't really want to rush to any judgements in regards to his reaction.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But we know it wasn’t an actual fight. Eye witnesses have said an argument broke out. Does that give Dier the right to go and start a fight in the stands with his own supporters? Or anyone for that matter. As per point above, if a fan runs into the pitch to try and attack a player, he gets rightfully banned for life and probably arrested. No bloody excuses for Dier to start climbing the stands to attack supporters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The player is unlikely to have said something offensive to the supporters family though, is he? Without knowing the cause I don't think conclusions should be jumped to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I work in crime and disorder mate. You don’t just start attacking people because they said something offensive to you or you’re family, especially as a professional footballer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's nice for you. Diet didn't attack someone as far as I am aware, however. He ran into the stand in response to abuse and because his brother was involved.

I think this is a case of Spurs fans not liking Dier and wanting to actually highlight anything they can that displays him as in the wrong without using context. Surely in your role you will know that context can be important in such incidents.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope, watch the evidence and the videos. Dier is clearly seen aggressively trying to get at the individual in question and is being held back by about 5 Spurs supporters. If he went in to grab his brother and take him away, I’d probably have sympathy although he still shouldn’t be jumping into the crowd, but you can clearly see him trying to go at the fan. Stop defending him, he was in the wrong and an FA ban will reflect this. Like I keep saying, if I fan aggressively walks onto the pitch to try and go at a player, he gets banned and arrested, simple as that. Should be no different to Dier.

My point is you don’t just start aggressively going for fans in the stands. No matter what context you try and put forward, that Is really bad especially as a professional footballer. There’s no excuse for it. I honestly think if the fans hadn’t of held Dier back, he probably would of attacked that fan.
