When he signed it was met with mockery and this ‘how the mighty have fallen nonsense’.
My initial opinion was I’d hoped we signed someone better but he’s an extra body who can do a job for a few months.
Thinking about it logically though it may not be a bad thing to sign him permanently.
A big name, big money striker is not top priority in the summer imo. A top right sided attacker and at least one top midfielder is (depending on Pogba’s future).
Greenwood has shown great potential and will be another year older and wiser next year and probably ready to take on more game time. Martial isn’t perfect but it’s his 1st season for us playing number 9 full time and he’s done well. Rashford can also play there if needed. Getting a top right sided attacker is a much bigger priority.
Ighalo wouldn’t cost a bomb and looks like he’s honoured to play for us and would seemingly be happy with a bit part role.
Certainly a move to at least consider.
Ighalo

And it here it goes, he scores twice against a championship club and people think its wise to sign a player who isnt good enough for where we want too be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's a proven PL goalscorer.
Conversion rate better than any of your strikers, tell us again how he's not good enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He has scored 16 goals in his time in the PL.
You can keep that.
He isnt good enough for a team looking to get back to the top he wasnt even good enough for watford towards the end of his stay

Pretty good record for a club that defend most of the time.
I think you're mental for calling him out as not being good enough after the start he's made and his previous success in the league for a smaller club but that's your prerogative.

-------------------
It was mocked by the media for clickbait and rival fans who don't have a clue what they were on about. The same lot are probably now saying what a great piece of business it was and how Spurs should have got him to cover Kane.
It was a loan deal as cover, if he aint good enough, then he leaves in the summer. If he performs really well, then I'm sure there is an opportunity to sign him permanently.
United couldn't really lose from it.

I still think we should be targeting a more longer term solution up top in the summer. Keeping in line with our current recruitment strategy under Ole.

He is a quality player and I am not surprised he is doing well.
The people saying, it is only Brugge and Derby seem to have forgotten that we struggle with the smaller teams
