Media Watch: Momentum building for Stones

John Stones, Pep Guardiola and Lauren Hemp all feature on Friday’s instalment of Media Watch, as we take a look at the Manchester City centric headlines on the back pages.

Men's Team
Newcastle game postponed
Stones has told journalists he feels momentum is building amongst the City squad as we bid to add more trophies to our collection, whilst Pep Guardiola has again been praised by a former player.
Elsewhere, Hemp has been reacting to her first senior start with England, after she completed 90 minutes in the Lionesses’ 2-0 defeat to the USA in the SheBelieves Cup.

From the players
Independent: John Stones - Manchester City hitting new gears as search for silverware continues
Stones: “I think so [momentum is building].
“We’ve got to be confident within ourselves and know what we’re capable of, but we’re humble about it, which is a great way to go about yourself.
“I think that’s why we’ve done so well in recent years. That’s a big thing.
“Sometimes big clubs come away to places and almost think they’re going to push teams over and we never do that."

Interviews
De Bruyne’s favourite City kit and go-to video game
BBC: England lose SheBelieves Cup opener
Hemp: “That's probably the biggest game I've played in, standing out in that national anthem with all the fireworks going off.
“It's a moment where I was like: 'Wow, this is what international football is really like.' I'd love to be in more occasions like that and be one of the stars in the game."

Opinion
Goal: ‘Playing football under Guardiola is almost easy’
Jan Kirchoff: “It was crazy because you thought: Before, I didn't understand anything. The way Pep simplifies the game and shows how you stand to the ball or in the field is outstanding.
“There are dozens of little details that you might have known before, but after two months of training under him, so many things made more sense and were so much easier for us players to implement.
“It makes an incredible difference when you have a good coach. It simplifies a lot of things enormously, so playing football becomes almost easy"
