. . . cancel all NEXT SEASON'S leagues, cups and tournaments and other sporting events. (would have started in August 2020 to May 2021).
Suspend this year as at now, and pick up where we leave off when the virus has passed. We don't know how long this will be, but there will still be this year's champions, qualifying teams, relegations etc. regardless of when this happens and then continue as and when.
Doesn't take into account any financial implications, I know.
As I said, simplistic. Don't knock me for the idea. The Ryder Cup missed a year after 9/11.
A Simplistic Solution ?? . . . . .

So while everybody is talking about if Liverpool would get the title if the season is declared void, here's a more important question.
Would Bury be reinstated to the league? The season in which they infringed the rules would never have happened on paper, so if they were in a fit place to start again next season as if nothing had happened, would they be allowed to?

If "The season would never have happened on paper" as you state, then why would Liverpool get the title?

the only way is to play behind closed doors if not, season null void, nobody wins anything, gets promoted or relegated. cannot just give the titles away / send teams down when it is not mathematically done, would be wrong.

Probably the best plan. Do whatever it takes to finish this season even if it takes until the end of the year. And in the meantime, those in charge, have some breathing space to plan on how next season should be handled.

can't do till the end of the year fella, far too many contracts at most clubs will finish in june, which brings many many issues. it needs to be done asap behind closed doors or the powers that be say it is all void

My suggestion would be to play the remaining games over the summer if we can.
If we have less time just do the play-offs as they are now. Relegation as it is now OR the bottom clubs play a mini-tournament.
Finish all cup games inc. European games as one leg only. Hold the mini tournaments in the least affected areas / countries.
The above could start by mid-July and end mid-August. It gives us 17 weeks from today to get a handle on it. Unlikely I know.
IF it did happen like that, then they have a month off until mid-September (normally a two week international break anyway.
Would mean a huge fixture pile up for those still in Europe, but, they’ve had plenty of rest AND they have huge squads and tens of players out on loan anyway.
Worst case scenario. Sport ends for 12-18 months. The world bands together to resolve the virus, we lose a billion or so people due to the virus and it’s various impacts (infrastructure collapses globally). The earths environment recovers massively and we factor in a lockdown every year to ease us killing the planet. Oh and a global revolution as corporations and countries become powerless.
Either way. It’s a win win 👍 a bit like John Lennon’s Imagine.
There are way to many of us anyway.
