Freezing or cancelling sports packages

Ok...so who's tried this so far...

I cancelled my BT sports package today with no issue, & can reinstate it as and when live sport comes back with no charge

Sky were not so accommodating, spoke to three different sky operators today, & despite it saying on their site that you can freeze your sports package , they are very reticent to do it over the phone & are telling you that you can cancel it and start it again at a later date, which isn't the same thing

I have a decent discount on my sky & films combined package so they said if you cancel the sports you will then pay more for the films (no discount) & there's no guarantee you'll get the same discount if you reinstate sports at a later date.

It also says on their site you can freeze/pause your sports package online from tomorrow, but the operators wouldn't confirm that...so i'll look at this tomorrow.

you're being fleeced.

Always keep the same tv and Internet provider.

Agree with this. I get the same sort of deal as Sherrif has for £94.00 per month with the fastest broadband speeds available with Virgin Media.

I used to but I’ve found it far cheaper to split them and play them off against each other every year. I’ve never paid for BT sport and never paid more than half price for Sky.

Haven’t read the comments but dunno what the OP is complaining about. For years Sky have given a huge discount on movies when you have sports so obviously you are going to have to pay full price on it if it’s not part of some deal. As for them not freezing your package, who cares? Just cancel it and when you want it back you will more than likely get a 50% off discount when you want to get it back. Just seems like you are complaining because you didn’t know about the 30 days notice you have to give when cancelling and are now unhappy about having to pay for that period.

1 It wasn't a complaint as such...it was an observation
2 I didn't want to freeze/pause my Sky just the Sports...which they wouldn't do despite their blanket email saying you can

I've done it now via the email...so all good...and when the sports does come back on, Sky will do whatever they see fit to get customers back

The reason I left Sky originally was because their Broadband speeds were so appalling (and always had been) and Virgin Media were offering speeds up to almost 400 Mbps, which amazingly they do provide and Sky constantly write to go back for silly amounts but I can't go back to those internet speeds.

So...can I check with others, paused my Sky Sports but it's still showing on my TV...is this right...?

Just been on to Sky, took me less than 2 minutes to speak with verification team, they then transferred me to their sales team which took about 30 seconds. 5 minutes later my sports package was suspended and my monthly bill was £23 lower

Total time taken less than 10 minutes...........yet when I was first connected the recorded voice said average wait was over 1 hour

I know right...it was a breeze via the e-mail...when you found the link...the fackers never made it obvious though
