So, came across this bizarre article on the bbc website and its made me angry and confused in equal measure.
Ferguson is absolutely right to be complaining about TV's impact on football. Its ruined competitiveness in the top flight of the english game by vastly increasing the finances of the big clubs in comparison with everyone else. Its led to the scourge of gloryhunters which could eventually destroy small clubs. Its taken a lot of the passion out of the game and has turned the people who play it into greedy mercenaries.
But why on earth would the Man Utd manager be complaining about that? Its given his club around 500 million worldwide gloryhunters, total financial superiority in england if not the world, and has basically become a publicity machine for his club. Rarely a general sky sports advert is made without 2/3 clips of Man U scoring and Shrek giving us his stupid grin. Well it seems Ferguson is oblivious to all that and wants to have a pop at TV anyway because he thinks it affects his champions league aspirations, the man really does live in his own little bubble doesn't he.
And in the meantime you've got FA chief exec Brian Barwick at pains to point all this out, waxing lyrical about the total domination Man U have achieved with the help of TV as if its a good thing! Excuse me Barwick you total prat but football is only "super-reliant" on TV money because the FA, UEFA, FIFA and all the other corrupt, disgraceful organisations that run football are greedy bar stewards and we're falling over themselves to make the deal with the devil from the very start. If the FA truly represented football they'd be appalled at the effect TV has had on the game, but in response to Fergie's baffling pop at it they're rushing to defend.
Its a mad world all right. If I wasn't paying £225 for Rovers I'd probably jack the whole thing in and go back to playing on saturday afternoons.

No, it's very good reading. You're obviously highly intelligent and quite philosophical too and it does show!

I think this is just sour grapes from old red nose as he has a bone to pick with the BBC because of his agent son.The football prices are inflated, transfers, agents fees,entrance/season ticket money and the rest of the merry go round who live off soccers back.We the fans are not needed anymore because of the tv money so actually OR Nose is biting the hand that feeds him.Nuff said.

Football has become a truly ugly endeavour these days.
I often think just to give up on it completely at times and do something else, like drink or read something profoundly stimulating. It's hard to get into the mentality of wanting to absorb new information though because I think ultimately humans can be quite lazy!
But yeah, I digress. I hear you. We don't really feel wanted anymore.

"I'd probably jack the whole thing in and go back to playing on saturday afternoons."
This. Tbh, I am losing the connection with football, footballers and the whole 'excitement'. Much like other things that are constantly there, I'm just bored. Yeah I like exciting football but the same times globally enriching themselves or Anotherov Russianteamic like Chelsea trying to buy all the world's best players, really how 'relevant' is it to us.
So pick the astroturf boots up and get out there!!
