doing a good job when we are in course to have the worst death statistics in the whole of Europe ?
It’s like losing 9-0 and saying you played well.
We’re not even counting those who didn’t die in hospital or those who weren’t tested.
Unbelievable.
How can anyone think this government are

No government could do better than this.
Other than us having the highest daily death toll in Europe, Germany and South Korea having much flatter curves, lack of PPE in hospitals, testing at a much lower rate than other countries etc. No one else could have done better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think only America is doing worse ffs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The UK`s deaths per percentage of population is actually one of the lowest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Andrew Neil @afneil
According to research by Deep Knowledge Group (DKG), a Hong Kong venture capital group specialising in medicines, Germany is the second safest country in the world during Covid-19 pandemic, with Israel in the top spot. Britain is not in the Top 40 safest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
China number 5... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much sums up the problem. People allow their biases to rule over actualling looking into things. You've already dismissed research because the findings won't suit your own narrative of solely blaming China.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure Anyone solely blamed China Anywhere here?
They likely gave the world bird flu, Sars and now covid, lied about it, did not inform the rest of the world right away, gagged a whistle blower doc, who died of covid.....and now, Wuhan is open for business, complete with wet market unhygienic Bush meat sales.
Just like questioning govt ministers or America or the EU response for Italy and Spain, some of us will shine a spotlight on chins too.
Why would you not do likewise, Tam?
Not blame China solely, as that is not what I am saying either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have criticised both China and WHO. Saying I haven't is an outright lie. The situation is a lot more complex than people like you make it though and you would be quite happy to allow the WHO to be shut down and China to take all the blame if it suited you political biases rather than take an objective look at what has actually happened.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Read this again.
Where did I say shut down or just blame WHO?
Just blame China?I never said just blame China and if you read my posts, objectively, you will see I called out the Tory govt and public too.
And had my pop at Trump.
Now, I had the decency to clarify my post where I suggested you also question China, along with other interested parties, so would you like to clarify where I said any of what you accused me of.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh shut up Tam ffs with you’re political correct bulls**. China pretty clear as day didn’t inform the public or anybody about the outbreak for nearly a week, which was a massive blunder because it’s the route cause of what we are currently dealing with today. Once this is all over, they should be footing the bill for every country affected by this horrendous disease, starting with Italy who have been crippled by this. China are 100% to blame.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In early March you were saying that this would be over in a few weeks and everyone was over reacting. Not sure you have much credibility here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Always said the summer June/July the footy will resume and we will slowly ease back to normal life and I still think that.

People forget that you can say whatever you like about Italy and Spain but it’s the UK, yes blooming us, who recorded the highest daily death figures in Europe!
That’s not a sign of us doing well when we had the advantage of seeing Italy and Spain tackle this and should’ve learnt our lessons much better!
It’s not an easy task trying to contain this granted but let’s go and give ourselves pat on the back!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you expect when Londoners won't heed the 2-meter warnings? I was pulling my hair out seeing people cramming into trains and sunbathing in Hyde Park.

Fact is if we hadn’t just had ten years of austerity and cuts we would have been more prepared.
Germany chose not to use austerity after financial crash and they are a much safer country than ours right now.
------------
This.
There might not be a direct link between the number of death and the state of the NHS, although you could easily argue that there is.
But there is a direct links between current state of the NHS and the lockdown.
The length of lockdown will only be determined by the capacity of the NHS to absorb and treat patient. Without the austerity, the UK could have had probably a more relax lockdown just like the Netherlands and Sweden have and that wouldn't such an impact on the economy. Instead, the government had to take drastic measure and might not open business for another month.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, relaxed lockdown would have been easier if Tories had not been in power, trying to balance the books after the 2008 crash?
Even though, Ireland and Italy tell us we locked down too little too late.
Not a fan of austerity, like I do not like paying bills or credit card payments, but we have to pay our way, or pass it to next generation.
Sadly, the poor get hammered hard.
That is the world over and not just Tory UK.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Austerity is a (failed) political ideology, not a financial necessity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know why it was needed, but am not going to defend Tory policy, but at the same time, this virus would have tested us even without the last decade of cuts.
Hopefully, we learn from this.
Not reliant on chins for everything we use, including PPE.
Looking after the medical profession and carers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you look at the state of national finances leading up to the 2008 crash, despite having experienced years of economic boom under Labour, borrowing was sky high, the size of the state was massive, gold reserves sold off cheap to afford such spending. We were having our cake and eating it, and borrowing more money, buying more cake and eating that too. When the crash hit we were skint and the memo to the incoming chancellor from the outgoing, "I'm afraid there is no money", is so very telling.
FOr sure the Tories used this situation to support their austerity measures and their key ideology of shrinking the size of the state, but don't think that the minimum amount of cuts needed post-crash would have been easy. They still would have been very deep cuts.
YOu also have to ask yourself where we would be financially, as a country, had the cuts not been so deep? Our ability to borrow, our credit rating, the cost of that borrowing and our level of borrowing would all put us in a much worse financial position than we are now.
What is disappointing is that this crisis will likely wipe off a lot of the benefits we will have had going forward from years of austerity. We went through that hardship with a promise of Jam in the future and now that future has just got further away!

Record numbers of people applying for support and millions out of work but there's no one to pick the fruit.
I thought Brexit was supposed to create more job opportunities for locals. Well, the jobs are opening up but no one is taking them except Romanians.
Why the need for foreign workers when so many are jobless?

Because Brits don't like hard work for about £7 an hour.

The easy solution is to stop benefits to people who refuse to do farm work. If I lived in an area like Kent I'd sooner be working than stuck at home.
That Automatic guy obviously doesn't work why doesn't he volunteer to pick fruit? The lazy bum.

Exactly this. He spends half his life berating English and white people on Ja606. Why don’t the lazy c** go and pick fruit then ? Hypothetical bas**. Don’t preach to others, when you are exactly the same as the people you are criticising.
