The "militarisation" of the co-vi19 pandemic.
It is not a "war" in war causalities are expected. The NHS staff trying to care for people deserve more than being thought of as soldiers.
statements like "you wouldn't send a soldier on the front lines without full kit"
Really? really? check the history books.
Look at the name put on the hospital. the nightingale. chosen for good reason or to again militarise this. A nurse from one of the most pointless wars of the past?
We have caring professions attempting to save lives and all we can do is relate it to people going and killing each other, why? to motivate people?
then the other thing I'm REALLY chuffing sick of. Van drivers, people working in shops. Doing their jobs, getting paid for it but being compared to the NHS staff??? heros? I'm sorry but the ads of radio and tv are actually deeply cynical form the supermarkets and should be called as such.
You can't sit at home, flick through the media channels without someone bleating on about heros while you know its just people getting on with it while the NHS staff in hospitals are suffering.
I wish people would calm down a bit and focus on the real issues which are lack of testing, lack of ppe and disastrous conditions for nurses, doctors, porters etc.
Is anyone else sick of......

The whole war rhetoric seems to be a very US and UK style narrative, you see lots of things presented as war and the whole Dunkirk spirit, Churchill drum banging is never far away.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its the media machine at work. Use of certain words and phrases that resonate with the simple minded, of which the majority of the population now is and falling for.

Agree with the points the OP makes. I do get fed up of people being unable to stay at home, when during the Blitz, you were lucky if you had one.
Massive que outside Wilko last week according to staff, one woman came out with only a watering can as a purchase. Ffs, you risk killing people so you can better water your Azelia's??

Drove past “Range” the other day and there were loads of people coming out carrying paint and suchlike
Flip side to that is, if they’re at home doing DIY/Decorating, then they’re not laid on the beach or in the park, got to give people a bit of leeway

who knows..
as long as the store isnt giving it large about how heroic it is continuing to make a profit.
I got sick of the ads after about a week and it's getting worse.
just stick up signs and the perspex shields round tills and stuff. signage in store and stop acting like you are saving the planet by making money cos I can tell you not one of them is doing anything but jacking the prices up to max.

Often hear about people losing their "battle" against cancer.

Regarding the OP
What is the difference regarding shop workers, van drivers and NHS staff?
Surely they are all doing just doing their jobs as you say regarding van drivers, shop workers etc
I work in the emergency services and deal with life threatening situations everyday and now expected to deal with them without any PPE etc...I am just doing the job I was trained for same as shop workers, van drivers etc
