Just thought it was an appropriate time with times so uncertain and with the death of Norman to mention and remember some players mainly from the sixties era who have passed on, I'm sure some of our older members will remember them fondly: the unforgettable Billy Bremner, Albert Johanneson, Bobby Collins, Paul Madeley, Jim Storrie, Rod Johnson, Gary Sprake, more recently of course tragically Gary Speed. Also does anyone remember Terry Hibbitt, a thin scrawny lad, didn't at all look like a footballer, also passed on some years ago?
As an aside has anyone seen any comment or quotes from Jack Charlton relevant to the death of Norman Hunter...I may have missed something from Jack but not heard from him for some time? As far as I know they both got on well but what do I know of their personal relationship.
Leeds players passing....

Beckham... did very well for himself considering he couldn't tackle, head a ball, use his left foot and didn't have any pace whatsoever
excellent right foot though, it has to be said

Always wonder how David Harvey is, remember he was really poorly a couple of years back.

Have to tell you Jonty as schoolboys in the early 60s David Harvey saved a penalty from me on New Wortley Rec. Ground...he dived to his right hand corner and tipped it behind, his school won that game...after that we had similar football careers he played for Leeds and I played for the Squinting Cat, Brown Cow and Dog and Gun pubs.

I'll never forget on ja606 posting a thread about him being poorly and koppite coming on to say that Harvey wasn't all that. Harvey's daughter created an account, logged on and had a real go at koppite.

Understandably we tend to focus on players of the glory years, not many on here will remember players from before the glory era, but surely when you talk about players that are no longer with us, nobody is talking about the likes of Grenville Hair, played his entire professional career for Leeds, 443 appearances, similar to the totals of Eddie and Lorimar, far more than the 300 or so of John Charles.
Both he and John Charles were born in 1931 and would have played plenty of times together.
Kenneth Granville Arthur Hair died in 1968 of a heart attack aged just 36.

That's a great shout! I think he died if I remember on the eve of Leeds League Trophy victory over Arsenal, or maybe just after that victory...was it called the Milk Cup in those days.
Hair played left back and pretty good he was as I remember, after him in that position was Willie Bell, then came Terry Cooper.

Was it Arsenal, doubting myself now?
Jimmy Greenhoff scored didn't he?
