FIFA

I take it that by now everyone has seen the FIFA CMO's interview in which he says that the season should stop now and start afresh in September for 20/21.

Just curious, if he feels so strongly about that then why haven't FIFA banned football until then? Are they not allowed to or something? If they are the governing body of our sport then surely they have the power to stop all leagues until then, don't they?

If they put a stop to leagues they’ll be liable to compensate

First off, I haven't seen any quotes where he mentions September.

"My proposal is if it is possible, avoid playing competitive football in the coming weeks.

"Try to be prepared for the start of good competition next season."

That's all I've seen. Unless there's other comments I haven't seen, then maybe the September is coming from you, or from journalists doing the reports.

The reason I mention this is because if you read all his comments, he does not seem to be suggesting it'll be safe to start a new season in September.

"I am a little bit afraid that to have a complete solution we will have to wait until we have a vaccination programme, but I think the time has come now to think of some hygienic rules.

He is talking about a vaccine, which most agree we cannot just wait for for 18 months. September is a bit misleading because if there was a guarantee of that then everything would change.
