Sounds like someone from the tales of King Arthur but it’s the potentially world saving treatment for Coronavirus that is getting a lot of rave reviews (if that’s the right way to describe it).
Let’s hope it is the help we’ve all been praying for and doesn’t turn us into I am Legend style zombies.

It seems that it may reduce recovery time from 15 to 11 days for some people.
Nice but not panacea we need?

its the 20-30% percentage change in fatality numbers in hospitals that's huge. 14 percent to 11 percent. 86 percent recover irrespective, bit for the folk that dont recover the treatment potentially reduces that by 20%. Which is absolutely huge. 1 in 5 less hospital deaths.

Pretty much what I just watched Dr Fauche say on the news this morning. America’s voice of reason as opposed to the orange idiot.

when did they administer remdesivir to the patients ?
because anti-virals only really work if they're given early on n the disease
if you administer them when the patient is already hooked up to a ventilator they give no benefit ?
is this drug better than hydroxchloroquine + zinc ?
have side by side trials of each taken place to see ?
my guess is remdesivir is being favoured by drugs companies as it's much more expensive than hydroxychloroquine...and they can make much more $$$ from selling remdesivir as the go to anti-viral for covid-19

It's not an anti viral i dont think

As far as I'm aware it's still under patent which means Gilead have a monopoly on it. The rest of the 'industry' as it stands will not stand to benefit.
Which presents another problem anyway - if it gets approved worldwide you can guarantee global demand will not be met.

yes exactly under patent, hence why so expensive, and the manufacturers will benefit massively if it's used
why not compare remdesivir to hydroxychloroquine + zinc in a trial
also ensure the drugs are given early on in the disease, not when patients are on ventilators
