Despite what the papers and gossip columns report, it seems that the next transfer window is unlikely to be full of mega deals and mass spending.
The man U chief was quoted as saying mega deals this summer just do not seem feasible, and the same message has also come from lots of other sources, well placed at big clubs. When you make a deal with the devil for insane TV money I guess financial turmoil is what happens when a crisis occurs. I can see even teams with money sbeing super hesitant.
With this in mind what teams are best placed, and who could be in trouble, if we see few deals being struck?
I personally think if Newcastle do get bought out they could make some huge moves at a time prices are low, or there is limited competition to drive prices, and really make some big inroads. Obviously they would need to invest well but the value could be too good to pass up.
I can see City and maybe Chelsea doing some deals but I think even man u, spurs, arsenal and Liverpool may try and put off any big spending. It's times like this we will see what teams operate in a bubble.
Top 6 next year could be huge, especially if cities ban is maintained.
Who will win it? Who will struggle? Who will surprise people?
I think we may see a few young players make a name for themselves when next season finally starts.
I did try and post this to several teams boards but I failed 😣
Pred for next season- post covid- little sp

City will walk the league next season if the ban is upheld. Probably sweep up everything in England again, unfortunately.
They'll be wounded by losing the title and hurt by no European football. Failing to achieve domestic success in the face of that would be seen as chronic failure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They should by rights.
If they spend 200mil and make a mockery of FFP and corona virus and their ban then they certinaly will.
I think though they need that CB to go with laporte and are maybe one player short if sane does go but after that they should if only focused on league win 36 out of 38 game or its a failure.
People need to wake up to how bad this is for the league in general.
I can recall a comic book back in my youth form pre prem where when it was being mooted and people didn't want a super league on top of our football league. There was a mega rich club playing 5-3-2 or something, full of foreign starts and winning everything and all the fans were plastic and hadn't a clue.
Some pundit insulted them and was challenged to do better and he got a bunch of no hopers form the non league and bottom leagues who were english together and played WM formation and slaughtered them.
First off It was actually relatively accurate about city. Plastic fans, foreign starts winning everything by spending.
Of course it was also little englander atttidue

Lets look at each team:
Alisson
TAA Gomez VVD Robertson
Henderson Fabinho Wijnaldum
Salah Firmino Mane
subs: karius , Matip, oxlade, minamino, milner, keita, origi.
Jones, elliott etc.
Very little issues there. We would like a better forward and some LB cover but hey, it'd be nice not necessary.
Over to Ole to post his utd side or and spurs fan or even a non plastic city fan

If Newcastle are bought and are savvy, not just spending everywhere, I really believe they can assemble a top 6 squad in one window. The market is wide wide open for clever operators and clued in recruiters with teams all over the world desperate for cash like never before. Heard they have been trying for Soumaré since January, which would be a superb signing. Genuinely believe they can be a threat to the established order. If they get Poch too who knows..

Keano, as much as I'd like to agree, history has shown us that you can't play real life like Fifa manager mode- you could in theory get all the players in for a top 6 squad.. but as we all know, it will take a while for the manager to know what his best 11 is, for the players to gel, for the players to settle in etc etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Take your point.
However history has also shown that shrewd investment can bear fruit immediately. Leicester winning the league and now also being in a CL spot is a prime example.
Not saying it will definitely happen, but if there was a set of circumstances that a new sugar daddy owner would want to find himself in when he has just bought a club, it doesn’t get much more perfect than right now in terms of being a buyers market.
I also believe that 4-5 astute and quality signings can transform a team and this has been demonstrated numerous time throughout the history of football.
I really think people have not realised the impact the current situation will have on football. People keep talking about ‘getting back to normal’, but I promise you that’s all in the past now. Football, like all businesses (my own included), will be run completely differently going forwards, as there is now a completely new and unpredictable ‘normal’.

I personally feel if we keep all the playere we want to keep then we should be the team to beat. This team is at the perfect age right now, players in their prime mixed with some younger ones. One or 2 additions just to keep things fresh and we should he good to go again.
City will of course spend but they are losing silva, his talent on the field is clear for everyone to see but its what he brings off the field they will miss the most. Hes a leader, an influential part of that clubs huge success in recent times. Thats difficult to replace as we have seen with kompany. Add to that fernandinho and aguero are a year older well into their 30s. Id never write city off but I do feel they have a bit of work to do in the transfer market.
United would be next for me. They have the financial power to go out and sign 4 or 5 players that could instantly transform them. As much as a i dont think solskjaer is the long term answer if big money is spent as i expect it will be then i believe they will kick on.
Chelsea i think will improve of course but I still see them as being a year or 2 short before they are genuine title contenders. I may be wrong on that but its just my personal opinion. Defos a team that will be up there again before too long.
Spurs are a tricky one. Will they spend? If they are not in the champions league next season will they be able to attract the calibre of player required to break back in. They have a talented squad and despite his struggles in recent years mourinho is still a manager id back to get it right. Cant make my mind up on them. Cant see a title push if they dont make top 4 this season. They just wont bring in the players required to make the leap without champions league football.
Arsenal personally for me are a million miles away. Reminds me of us at the early part of this decade. Some shrewd work needing done in the transfer market but its going to take a few years there i feel.

I think City and Chelsea will operate in a bubble, and don't expect covid to effect them a great deal in terms of spending.
Why I think the timing could be massive for Newcastle is, bar the team's with billionaire owners, even teams like barca, real, Napoli etc will have players on huge sums that have contract issues or huge wages/fees they haven't justified. Bargains can be found.
In theory they could spend a 100-200 million and get 300 mill worth of players if they are shrewd and spend wisely. If the market returns back to how it was in a few years that would be some real value they'd get.
It didn't take city long after a few initial marquee signings to get people's and players attentions.
Could chop a year or two of their development as a team aiming for top 4, although I accept even that would be a huge ask. Def not impossible though.

Agree I think it's just a matter of time before Chelsea rise again. They have some really solid youth players that are very young and have immense talent.
Ironic a team funded with oil money that had few English players could be fielding lots of youth team players in the future! Few saw that coming.

I think we cannot ignore whats gone on with cheslea and transfer ban.
They have lost the time to keep up with the jones' and then went and bought anyway for them to either come in off loan or to come in after but now they are also in this crisis.
The issue with cheslea is their players have been in even more demand as youngish players than city's but they've never given them a chance. now they finally have.

Yeah and they’ve been very good, Mount has looked decent, Abraham too and in gilmour they have someone who shown a very rare intelligence for someone so young, kid could be top class if he keeps going.
