I truly think we are going to have start buying hard copies of things
Today BBC & Netflix announces they were essentially destroying “little Britain" and never showing it again because time has moved on
Now HBO have decided they will remove a film that won 8 oscars “gone with the wind" because it partly takes place on an Atlanta Plantation.
Absolute madness shall we just scrub all history from the books?
Sorry sir you cant go see the pyramids because they represent slavery
oh that film uses a word that was perfectly acceptable at the time but now it’s not, get rid of it
HBO / BBC / Netflix

The main premise of fawlty towers was how rude and ignorant basil was to all his guests.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Deaf woman: You call that a bath? It's not big enough to drown a mouse. It's disgraceful.
Fawlty: I wish you were a mouse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT?

I wanted a room with a view
What were you expecting from a torquay window
The hanging gardens of Babylon ?

In the same episode Basil looks aghast at a doctor being a black man.
......
He also looked aghast at the matron who was white.

Basil to the Matron
God you’re ugly
Matron
I’ll get the doctor
Basil. Doctor? A plastic surgeon is what you need.

The best bit was when Basil was miming, therefore making out that Mrs Richards's hearing aid was turned down. Then when she turned it up, he shouts 'I SAID'

The Sydney Opera House, perhaps? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the Serengeti?

I think a TV show can only be considered racist if it punches down.
In Fawlty Towers the butt of the joke was always Basil's reaction to everything he didn't consider English and/or proper. He nearly always looked like the idiot.
In OFAH Del Boy did use the 'P' work to describe the Pakistani shop but that was in common use at the time. I mean it's a literal shortening of the word much the same as using Aussie really. Just a shame it's been hijacked for more nefarious reasons. Also, Del Boy was friends with all races and again, just like Basil Fawlty, it would usually be his ignorance that would be highlighted with Rodney being the social more 'right on' conscience in the show. Pretty much like Polly in Fawlty Towers.
Race is a very difficult subject though and one I will never claim to be an expert on. Where I live it's vastly majority white so I don't get to know what the BAME community think. I like to think I treat everyone with respect though and that's the way I'll continue to live my life.
