I know a few of his subs have worked of late but I really don't understand his obsession with the likes of Willock.
Yes he got a goal and assist in last few goals but I find his substitution slightly on the negative side.
I personally don't understand what Willock offers the team especially on the right hand side where there are better options such as Pepe who arteta could have called on against Leicester.
Also, if he wants to sure up a game then surely even AMN is a better option on the right than Willock
We inevitably drop of in 2nd half of games and I just hope Arteta is more proactive with his changes going forward.
The likes of Willock and Eddie are not Arsenal level and shouldn't be the automatic first subs in games.
We will suffer big time against spurs and pool and can't afford to have a good 45mins and poor second half especially against the likes of pool who will batter us if we don't fix up
Arteta use of subs negative

There you go then. What else could you possibly want from a young guy who’s pretty much restricted to subs? Are there any other players who can do this to come off the bench?
I’m not a fan of Willock but he’s one of the few who can run with the ball from midfield.
Nketiah is also another I’m not sold on either though I think he may just be the type of guy to really come through in another couple years.

If Willock is replacing ceballos then I get it but makes no sence using him out wide on the right

It’s not the best to use him wide however a lot of the younger central players do get used wide to become better in other areas. Maybe this is what Arteta is hoping? Who knows

The problem is not Arteta subbing in the youngsters. Its the dramatic drop off in the second half of most of the team. I hope its not a tactic like Moyes to hold onto what we've got. Xhaka, Ceballos are only one half players. Xhaka is not even that which is why we are having to play an extra CB to do the defensive work thats usually done by a holding midfield player.
The CMs have to be the fittest players in any team to maintain transitions. If that breaks down the team gets stretched and loses its compact formation and we lose possession so we can't get out of our half.

WIllock is brought on when/where is for his defensive contribution. All the young MFs will run but he reads, presses and passes best. R,L or M, Arteta brings him on to maintain high energy in the press and to have fresh legs for cover. Whatever he does offensively is a bonus, so far as that particular role goes..
And 50's right I reckon, part of learning curve Arteta has for him. I wasn't too sure on WIllock, still unsure. But the last few games, I think we've seen a little more of the youth side Willock coming out in the first team. Arteta might just surprise us with him.
