Ninian Park
Cardiff
1945 (for Ang)
Tues 14 July 2020
I think our dream is petering out but I'm not too down about it. Got too many other things to witter about than storming this league. But beating Cardiff would be nice.
After the debacle of the second half v Brentford - everything just implode after their unfortunate second goal - I was most disappointed to see the abuse Ben Hamer got on social media. Look, social media is a great thing but there is a line between criticism (justified) and abuse which is unacceptable. So much so that Hamer shut down his Twitter account.
Cardiff are in the hunt for a play-off and are nicely poised to bags that final spot. Beating Cardiff would bring is up level on points. Winning all three final games would bring us up to 70 points but only one team has has scraped into the play-offs on 70 points in the last 20 years......
We should have a full squad to chose from - apart from Waggy who serves his last match suspension - who knows if they close more schools in Derby, we will have more players to chose from.....
Team news:-
Roos,
Forsyth,
Lawrence,
Clarke,
Martin, Lowe,
Rooney (C),
Davies,
Knight,
Sibley,
Bird.
Substitutes: Hamer, Shinnie, Jozefzoon, Marriott, Evans, Bogle, Buchanan, Whittaker, Malone.

Goode should have been sent off against us in the first match at their place but I thought he was good otherwise and in the replay. He’s big but very comfortable on the ball. Dickie at Oxford I have liked for a while but he has now been linked with several clubs and probably would be 4 million or so. Strong, big threat at set pieces. Benkovic is potentially a top player, I think Leicester paid 14 million for him but he hasn’t featured. Left sided, tall, good on the ball.

And we were linked with B earlier in the season ?

Benkovic was lined up for us but then it turned out that Brendan Rogers decided to do his mate Lee Johnson a favour. That hasn’t worked out for Brizzle or the player.

Cheers Scouse but no desire to see it again. Cocu says conversation to start soon about trying to keep Clarke.

Felt Roos did enough but that might just have been first match 'bounce'
