Lukaku is a better player than the two of them. You can’t compare what he’s achieved in the game to what the two of them put together have achieved. He’s scored over 100 pl goals ffs, they’re not even at that put together.

Whether they suit the current system united play or not, it’s completely foolish to say martial and Rashford are better than Lukaku at this stage. They need to achieve a lot more in the game before you can say that

in his 2nd (and final) season with us, lukaku scored 12 PL goals, with zero assists.

This season rashford has 17 goals with 7 assists, martial 17 and 5. so with 2 games to go they are both roughly twice as productive as lukaku was last year, and broadly as productive as he was in his first year with us (16 and 7).

so to say that "it’s completely foolish to say martial and Rashford are better than Lukaku at this stage" is, statistically, cobblers.

Anyone who has watched United the past 3 three can see Martial and Rashford are at a far higher level than Lukaku ever was for us.

he's had 11 seasons and only 3 times has he scored more than 17 league goals. if either rashford or martial score once in the final 2 games, lukaku will only have bettered that twice in his career.

and his performances whilst at united are obviously a more relevant comparison to martial and rashford's season at united than is lukaku at everton, or whilst in belgium.

and, of course, given their injuries rashford and martial have both managed this in fewer games than lukaku had last season.

I genuinely give up. If you think a striker who over a decade has built up a reputation as one of the best strikers in world football, who is the record goalscorer for one of the best national teams in the world currently, who has been prolific in three countries, who has scored over 100 pl goals, is worse than two young players who are having their first more than good season and are still not matching the 27 goals Lukaku scored for Manchester United in his first season there, then there’s nothing I can say. Yes martial and Rashford are better than Lukaku. Probably Greenwood is too. In fact, I think those three are probably better than Aguero and Lewandowski too.

Yes Lukaku has achieved more as an individual so far in his career but those two have raised their game this season and are now better than Lukaku.

The argument is about their current levels and you’d be hard pressed to find any United fan who would take back Lukaku in exchange for any of our front 3.

Yes Lukaku has achieved more as an individual so far in his career but those two have raised their game this season and are now better than Lukaku.
